Adelaide Zoo is home to almost 2,500 animals, with around 250 different species from all around the world. Along with Aussie favorites like kangaroos, koalas, and Tasmanian devils, the zoo is famous for its pair of Giant Pandas, Wang Wang and Funi, the only animals of their kind in Australia.

How to Get There
The zoo is on the north-eastern edge of Adelaide, next door to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. Catch bus 271 or 273 from Currie Street; it stops on Frome Street, right outside the zoo. Alternatively, Popeye runs ferries from Elder Park, stopping outside the zoo.
When to Get There
Adelaide Zoo is open daily, year-round, although opening times vary slightly throughout the year. Time your visit for one of the zoo keeper talks or guided tours (included in the ticket price), or watch for seasonal events over the Christmas and Easter holidays.
Animal Sightings at Adelaide Zoo
Highlights of a visit to Adelaide Zoo include a walking through habitats, including the Australian Rainforest Wetlands and Rainforest Aviary; a Reptile House; and a South Asian Rainforest area, home to Sumatran tigers, orangutans, gibbons, and sun bears. There’s also an interactive Envirodome, where visitors can learn more about environmental conservation and sustainable energy; a Nocturnal House; and a Children’s Zoo, where kids can interact with farmyard animals and kangaroos under supervision of zoo keepers.
