Routes around the lakes, beaches, and marshes offer hides and lookout towers to observe the flora and fauna in a number of natural environments, including the Natural Areas of the Llobregat River, El Remolar – Filipinas and Vildecans beaches, Can Camins Pinewood and El Prat Beach, and La Murtra Pond and La Maiola Pinewood.

How to Get There

Delta del Llobregat is located just outside of Barcelona, about 9 miles (15 kilometers) southwest of the city. It’s easiest to drive. By public transportation, take bus 65 or 165 from Plaza España in Barcelona, or bus L10, PR2, or PR3 from El Prat de Llobregat Train Station.

When to Get There

The Delta del Llobregat Protected Nature Area is open year-round, with closures around Christmas and a few days in January. Organized activities for visitors are available in the spring, fall, and winter. At varying times of the year you will see different flora in bloom, or different nesting or migratory birds.

Wildlife at Delta del Llobregat

A large variety of plants and birds call Delta del Llobregat home. More than 600 species of plants have been identified here, in particular those that favor wetlands and sandy coastal areas, in addition to more than 20 species of orchids. You’ll also have the chance to spy more than 350 species of birds, including plovers, ducks, bittern, gulls, and ospreys. Other notable animal species include bats, toothcarp, and pond turtles.
