We loved everything about this tour. There was good communication about where to meet in Paris for pick up. Tour guide was very informative. All of the stops were relevant to the whole experience. And it was nice to end the day with some amazing cider.

D-Day Omaha Beach Area Morning or Afternoon Group Tour from Bayeux
The tour was fantastic and treated with reverance and respect for the lives lost in the fighting. We saw sights which were historically important and awe inspiring. Our tour guide, Tom, shared plenty of fascinating information and data about the events but also passionately portrayed a compelling story of the history of the war. Would recommend very highly!

Adrian was an excellent tour guide, friendly and extremely knowledgable -- took the time to explain all of the sites and answer questions. Standing on Omaha Beach was the highlight of the trip. If you have the time for a day trip to Normandy, do not miss out on this.

Normandy D-Day Small-Group Day Trip with Omaha Beach, Cemetery & Cider Tasting
This was a bucket list experience for me an the tour did not disappoint. Our guide, John Baptiste, was amazing. Not only is he a wealth of knowledge but he is truly a great person with a personality to match. We saw all the highlights capped by taps at the cemetery at 5. Very moving! A very long day but we’ll worth the effort.

D-Day Omaha Beach Area Morning or Afternoon Group Tour from Bayeux
Loved our day in Bayeux and Normandy. Our tour guide was great and treated us like “friends.” He was courteous, thoughtful, funny and extremely knowledgeable of all the events surrounding the D-Day invasion and local area. Shuttle van was clean, and comfortable with lots of leg room. Tour started and ended “on-time” and our guide even dropped us at the train station at the end of the day. Highly recommend this tour and this tour guide!!’ Five stars!

The tour guide was very personable. We enjoyed his company. The trip was fantastic. The beaches of Normandy and the cemetery were emotional and brought home the reality of D-Day. Lunch was good. The times were as advertised. It was a long day but glad we went.

Normandy Day Trip From Paris - OUTSTANDING

Normandy D-Day Small-Group Day Trip with Omaha Beach, Cemetery & Cider Tasting
Adrien with Blue Fox Tours was the guide for our small group tour (8 max). This is the way to go! He made it such a moving and pleasant day filled with history beyond the text book. He would provide an overview before each stop, allow us some time on our own and then we’d reconvene with a summary and Q&A. As an added bonus, his English is outstanding and he provided the added benefit of insight on local culture. Best value for your time and money!

  • Most tours visit WWII cemeteries and memorials, so it’s important to dress and act respectfully.

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes to explore the battle ruins and beaches.

  • Some tours are wheelchair accessible, but it’s best to check in advance with your tour operator.

How to Get There

Omaha Beach is located along the coast of Normandy in northern France, 15 miles (24 kilometers) northwest of Bayeux. Although buses run to the beach from Bayeux, the easiest way to visit is by private transportation or as part of a guided tour. The American Cemetery lies above the beach, from where a long walkway heads down to the beach itself.

When to Get There

Tours run to Omaha Beach year-round, but it can get busy during peak summer season. If you’re visiting in July and August, try to arrive early morning or early evening to avoid the large groups of day-trippers. The most moving time to visit is during the annual D-Day Festival, which commemorates the anniversary of the Allied Landings with a program of memorials, parades, and beachside picnics.

The D-Day Landings

Omaha Beach was the location of one of the most significant battles World War II. On June 6, 1944, American troops were given the task of securing Omaha Beach as part of a strategy to land Allied troops along five points on the coast of Normandy—an operation code-named D-Day. Due to unforeseen tidal forces and stronger than expected German defenses, the American soldiers suffered massive losses—2,400 casualties in a day of bloody fighting. However, the landing was eventually successful with 34,000 troops securing the area for the Allies, and thus beginning the end of the war.
