Myndos Gate (Myndos Kapisi) Tours

Myndos Gate (Myndos Kapisi)
Once guarding the western entrance to the ancient city of Halicarnassus, the grand Myndos Gate (Myndos Kapısı) marked the route to nearby Myndos (now Gümüslük) and remains a prominent landmark of modern-day Bodrum. Today, the peripheral walls that once ran for seven kilometers around the city lie in ruin, but the striking remains of the Myndos Gate are a lasting reminder of its former glory.

star-4.5
This tour, which is prepared for those who want to know the city of Bodrum and learn thousands of years of it’s history, is active every day except Mondays (April 1 - November 30). After meeting with your guide, we walk in the narrow streets of the city of Halicarnassus - where Herodotus, the Father of History, once wandered. We visit the city's corridors from past to present. First visit is to Zeki Müren Museum- former house of the well known Turkish singer who was resident of Bodrum and than we stroll around the historical houses with interesting architecture in the Cretan neighborhood. We proceed to Naval Museum and we listen to the story of sailors and sponge-hunters identified with the history of the city and see one of the world's most important collection of sea shells. Visit the Mausoleum-one of the 7 Wonders of the World, and watch the breathtaking view of Bodrum from the Antique Theater. We see the windmills, cisterns and many other works of the Ottoman era in this tour.
