The Basics

The house was built by slaves from Jamaica in 1780 for a wealthy Englishman as part of a plantation. The building, with 18-inch-thick walls, has withstood hurricanes, vandals, and fires. It also served as the meeting place of the first elected parliament. Book a direct tour to learn more history of the building and its occupants—entry includes a 3–D movie and guided tour. Or, visit as part of a more comprehensive Grand Cayman tour.
