Adults and Teens Pottery Summer School
These unique summer schools are intense but fun. The 4-8 students each make 10 or more pieces in the course, and all teaching is one-to-one. You don't need experience to join, but if you have knowledge of pottery-making, or even if you are a professional ceramicist, there are new things to learn. The venue is two hundred and fifty years old, and we work in the old stables, but also the coach house. All ceramic pieces are fired and glazed by you, and most will be oven-to-tableware - heatproof, microwaveable and dishwasher safe. Sculptures can go in the garden. Learn the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel, try your hand at smoke-firing, raku, and many more techniques. This suits all age groups from 12 upwards, but those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Children's Summer Art Camps
These camps for up to 20 children at a time, with two teachers, are full of fun and games, plus some educational processes - art forms, technical skills development and lots of social activities - teamwork, communication etc
We host children aged 5 up to 12, including Irish and non-Irish children (often children with limited English). We can take children with special needs, based on prior notification.
The classes are held in The Coachhouse at Kinsale Pottery, which was built in 1770, and is full of character. In good weather, the children have time to play in our garden, overlooking the Bandon River. They bring packed lunches which can be eaten indoors or in the marquee.
We find that the younger children tend to work together and the older children also team up and work on different projects if they like. We hold an exhibition of all the children's work at the end of the week for parents, which is hugely popular.
