The Basics

With its Quechua village festivals and markets, colonial churches, Inca ruins and other archaeological sites, river rafting, horseback riding, and trekking, there are plenty of reasons to head out into the Sacred Valley of the Incas for a day tour or longer. Day trips from Cusco might involve a guided trek to the Huchuy Qosqo ruins, a tour of the Maras salt mines, cycling on Moray Mountain, shopping the Pisac market, wandering the agricultural terraces at Ollantaytambo, or tucking into a traditional Andean lunch.

It’s also possible to combine a tour of the Sacred Valley with an overnight tour to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Machu Picchu.

A wild ride :)
For starters, Wilson was the best tour guide! He was super enthusiastic and made the adventure that much more memorable! We had such a wonderful time on this excursion and would do it again in a heartbeat. Even if you have never rode on an ATV, they help you every step of the way! **WORTH IT** and definitely see Moray and the salt mines , you won’t regret it!!!

Sacred Valley of The Incas 1 Day
We had a great tour - very comprehensive-visited a lot of places. The tour was very responsive to our chat via Viator app. Our tour guide was Raul. He did an excellent job of taking us around, very knowledgeable, keeping the group together so we were all on schedule, pleasant, helped with the pics... And, some free samples along the ways....

Natural Dyeing and Weaving Experience in the Sacred Valley (Textile Workshop)
Absolute must do excursion if you want to experience traditional Peruvian culture! This tour is run by a local family with generations of experience weaving textiles. They made us feel so welcome and shared their home and culture with us. The weaving process does take place on the floor, so be prepared to sit for a few hours. The artisans showed us how to weave a bracelet and then took it home. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the native culture for a day.

ATV Tour to Moray, Maras and Salt Flat in the Sacred Valley from Cusco
IT was relatively inexpensive, and was a great fun going to Moray and Maras. The guide spoke very good english, the scenery was amazing, and the ATV worked flawlessly. Couple of points to watch out for is that if you reserve for two people, you will be sharing one ATV, and that may be not so obvious when you reserve it and I'm not sure what you need to do when you reserve it so that the each person has an ATV, we were able to negotiate a fair price so that we each had our own ATV, not a big deal. It was a little hard to get a hold of the tour operator to ask questions, details until the day before, I wish there was easier way to communicate the details, answer questions. Lastly, the transportation from the hotel to the ATV place was in a private taxi, (which is ok in covid19 times) but the rear seat had no seatbelt, there was no buckle, which in fairness, is somewhat of a common thing we found out in Cusco, but driving through the mountain for an hour without a seatbelt, it's a bit unsettling to be honest. As for the ATV/salt mine part of the trip was fantastic and I would go again.

The service was exemplary.... when our trip was cut short due to COVID they immediately gave us a refund unlike most of the airlines who still owe us money ... United airlines.. air Canada ...

ATV Tour to Moray, Maras and Salt Flat in the Sacred Valley from Cusco
We enjoyed the tour to Moray and the Salt Flats and the ATV ride was very fun! On this tour you buy a pass(70 soles) to enter moray and it comes with access to three other park locations that aren’t on this tour. Plan to visit the other locations on a separate tour or on your own within two days or the money you spent is wasted. Also, prepare for a rough ride in the Shuttle. The driver Washi drove super fast, hit pot holes and made fast turns. Overall our tour guide Edgar was awesome! He is very knowledgeable about each excursion location and was a great photographer! He made sure we had great photos and videos from our trip!

Best of Sacred Valley Tour Small Group: Chinchero, Maras, Moray & Ollantayambo
Gris was an excellent hostess. Very pleasant. A wealth of information. Raul was an excellent driver. Would have loved to get to know him better but he only spoke Spanish and I don’t. Would use them again. All the sites were awe inspiring. It was a great tour. Pachamama was watching over us. The weather was perfect.

4-Day: All Included Excursion City Tour, Sacred Valley & MachuPicchu
We had a great experience with Chullo travel that we booked through Viator. The hotel we stayed at in Cusco was called La Casona Real and it was great. It looked like it was an old spanish villa and the rooms were beautifully furnished, beds were super comfortable, and the location was great. The guides for the tours were very knowledgeable and friendly, I would definitely recommend this excursion. It would be hard to see the areas, especially Machu Picchu without a guide.

Shopping in the Sacred Valley

The local towns and markets of the Sacred Valley are perfect for picking up interesting local souvenirs. Look for pottery in Urubamba, peruse the market in Pisac for silver jewelry and alpaca fleece items, or pick up some local salt, pulled directly from the nearby mines, from the shops in Maras.
