The Basics

Rail and bus tours that showcase the best of the Irish western and southern coasts—including the Ring of Kerry scenic drive, the Cliffs of Moher, Galway Bay, and the Burren—often includes a stop at Blarney Castle. Find an itinerary to suit your interests, and choose one with a tour guide to learn about the history of the castle and the stone. Make the most of your time with combination tours to other sites such as the Rock of Cashel, the Celtic Cathedral, the Hall of Vicars, the Galtee Mountains, and County Kildare.

Pucker up! 😘 🏰
The most memorable part was kissing the Blarney Stone. I had heard that it wasn’t worth it but decided to find out for myself. I absolutely loved the tour and Joe our driver was great. By far the best tour we have been on. We saw 2 other Castles. So many interesting things to see.

Blarney Castle Day Tour from Dublin Including Rock of Cashel & Cork City
Brian was our tour guide and he was fantastic. The stops we made were perfect. He was very knowledgeable and had lots of history and stories to tell. He even sang us a song which we loved. I would do this tour again and when we come back we will most definitely be booking a tour with Paddywagon tours. Buses were clean and comfortable. Being able to sit and see the countryside go by while listening to history was worth every cent.

Blarney Castle Day Tour from Dublin Including Rock of Cashel & Cork City
It was a great tip with an excellent bus driver and tour guide. We are a family of 6 and the timing was perfect. Long enough to see the tour spots but quick enough to not make it too long of a day.

Great sights; a lot of bus riding

Blarney Castle Day Trip from Dublin
Loved the scenery and castles. It’s a lot of driving, so prepare to sit a lot. We didn’t have a lot of time at Blarney given the wait in line and all we could have experienced. There is no tour guide, just a bus driver, so you explore on your own except for the third castle. It’s well worth it if you don’t mind a lot of driving.

Private Tour of Blarney Castle, Cork City and Kinsale
Wonderful guide who knows his stuff. Our guide was excellent. In particular we had some historical spots off the beaten path we were interested in and he was so flexible and willing to reroute and get us to the places we wanted and even suggested others. Will definitely be back!

Maurice was a terrific guide! He is so informative and we learned so much. He is a wealth of knowledge. He modified our tour to our preferences once he got to know us and we couldn’t have loved the day more. We would highly recommend him for your tour!

Blarney Castle Tour from Cork including Cobh
Great driver, informative & funny. The tour started early enough to avoid the queues at Blarney Castle, without being crack of dawn. The Castle gardens are also worth a walk around. Also, the trip to Cobh was a lovely additional part to the tour. Timings in each place were perfect and we weren’t home too late, like some tours you feel you’re just travelling around for hours, but this one was perfectly timed.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Come prepared with layers for Ireland's famously unpredictable weather.

  • Prepare to wait in line if you’d like to kiss the stone.

  • Stone kissing is best suited for those who are able-bodied, as the line winds up steep staircases to the castle’s top.

Exploring Cork City

A Cork day trip often includes time in the city as well as a visit to Blarney Castle. Stroll down St. Patrick Street and stop for lunch at the English Market, which hosted a visit from Queen Elizabeth II of England in 2011, or do some tax-free souvenir shopping at Blarney Woollen Mill. The Irish countryside throughout County Cork is picturesque and makes for a lovely drive.
