Introduction to the potter's wheel

Introduction to the potter's wheel

star-5
Making a pot on the potter’s wheel is one of those ‘I’ve always wanted to do’ activities. This fun session offers the opportunity to do just that! Perfect for individuals, couples and small groups wanting to get creative with clay. There are no mistakes in pottery – just happy accidents and learning experiences. The positive, inclusive nature of the instruction means everybody can join in the fun and achieve amazing results. City breaks, rural retreats and weekends away are becoming increasingly popular with couples and individuals wanting to get away. If you ever have the good fortune to find yourself in the beautiful county of Herefordshire, make sure you don’t leave before making a pot on the wheel at Eastnor Pottery. POTTERY is the traditional 9th wedding anniversary gift. Why not take it one step further and make each other a clay pot on the potter’s wheel to mark the occasion

Lavenham: Discover the Tudor side of life on this medieval audio walking tour

Lavenham: Discover the Tudor side of life on this medieval audio walking tour

This is THE walk for those people who have always wanted to walk along enough medieval streets to make up a whole medieval village. Maybe your interest in old timbered buildings was awakened by Tolkien or Harry Potter? Every street leads to the Market Square and every street has timbered houses along the route. It is one of those places that you visit once and then fall in love with. Even on the bleakest of days, there are people looking around the streets. Having been brought up in the area I have collected various stories about these buildings. Here I share such stories in an audio tour. This is a tour where the Tudor wool traders start to be more than words in a book. The Dukes of Oxford (the De Vere family) and the wealthiest commoners in England rubbed shoulders in these streets 900 years ago. We seek out the clues that they left behind over the centuries to get a glimpse into their lives.

Christmas Wreath Workshop - hosted in a thatched coastal cottage

Christmas Wreath Workshop - hosted in a thatched coastal cottage

There are lots of Christmas Wreath workshops to choose from in Norfolk but many cater for groups of 10-25 giving you very little 1-2-1 time to learn and relax. I limit capacity to just 4 guests and make your experience my priority - there's no "keeping up" I relax at your pace and guide you step by step. You will be hosted in a beautiful warm thatched cottage, thatched by a local Master Thatcher! Under the oak beams we will relax to sip our hot chocolate and create our wreaths with a little seasonal music to get us in the mood. The cottage will be fully dressed for Christmas and I am happy for you to take as many photos as you would like, it's often described as a chocolate box cottage on the coast! Why not enjoy a visit to our award winning beach just seconds away from the cottage, or a walk to the local seal colony or medieval barn, it's a beautiful part of the country to explore. If you would like to book lunch/dinner nearby I am happy to make recommendations.

        Chaplin Walks

        Chaplin Walks

        star-5
Come along for a guided walk on the comic genius Charlie Chaplin! Chaplin was born in Kennington, London in 1889 and lived their until he was 21. He was born into and spent his early years in great poverty in (at the time) one of the poorest areas of London. As a teenager he joined a performing group in nearby Brixton and during a tour of the U.S was spotted performing by a scout for Sennett Studios, they signed him up and the rest is history! I will guide you round the streets visiting various places that influenced him, the houses where he lived as a child and describing the conditions of the area in late Victorian London. I will tell you the story of his relationships with his mentally ill mother, alcoholic father and the close bond he had with his half brother Sydney. We finish the walk at the place where he learnt his comedy walk! The walk lasts just under 2 hours.  We meet outside Kennington Tube Station.
