Jackson Hole Aerial Tram Tours and Activities

Since 1966, the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram has been whisking guests and locals of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort 4,139 vertical feet (1,262 meters) in 15 minutes to an altitude of 10,450 feet (3,185 meters) at the top of Rendezvous Mountain. A ride up for the views or a bite to eat at Corbet’s Cabin has become a quintessential Jackson Hole experience.
The Basics
The tram, nicknamed Big Red and commissioned in 2006, holds 100 passengers and takes nine minutes to reach the top from Teton Village. In winter, skiers and snowboarders use the tram to access terrain on Rendezvous Peak, including Corbet’s Couloir, one of the steepest and most famous ski runs in the United States. During summer, the tram transports hikers, mountain bikers, paragliders, and vista seekers to the top—on a clear day, the tram affords 360-degree views of the Gros Ventre Range, Snake River Valley, Grand Teton National Park, and the expanse of the Jackson Hole valley.
Things to Know Before You Go
- The Jackson Hole Aerial Tram is a must-do for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and first-time visitors.
- The price of the tram is included in winter lift tickets.
- The tram is wheelchair accessible.
- Don’t forget to dress in layers; even in summer, it’s much chillier at the top of the mountain.
How to Get There
The Jackson Hole Aerial Tram is located in Teton Village, Wyoming, about a mile (1.6 kilometers) from the entrance to Grand Teton National Park. It’s easily accessible on foot from just about anywhere in town.
When to Get There
The tram operates seven days a week throughout the summer season (June to September) as well as during winter when Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is open. The tram and resort both close from Easter to the end of May and again from September to Thanksgiving.
Corbet’s Cabin
Perched at 10,450 feet (3,185 meters), Corbet’s Cabin is a Jackson Hole institution, famous for its made-to-order waffles and incredible views from the outside deck. Don’t miss the Gateway, a waffle topped with peanut butter and bacon.
