Barranco, Lima, Peru

The Basics

The heart of the neighborhood is Plaza San Francisco, where you’ll find the Church and Convent of Saint Francis as well as a variety of cafes, galleries, bars, and restaurants. Head downhill toward the waterfront, and you'll find fantastical murals, a popular sunset lookout point, and bars and restaurants that stay open late.

Barranco is full of footpaths and is best explored on a walking or biking tour. You can opt for half- or full-day tours, or combine a visit to Barranco with a stop in the upscale Miraflores shopping district or the nearby Pachacamac Archaeological Center.

Discovering Barranco through food
Really enjoyed out tour of Barranco. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about local food. He spoke really good English and we enjoyed his company on our private tour. We visited great eating places, market and local interest places. Food tastings were very enjoyable and high quality. Highly recommend.

Magic Fountains Park & Bohemian Barranco - Evening tour (Small Group)
My tour guide Susan was fabulous. She was very informative about the history of the area. The fountains are incredible. I encourage everyone to go even if they’ve been to the Bellagio. Barranco looked like a lot of fun and I would’ve like to spend a couple hours there.

Walking Food Tour in Barranco (Small Group)
Excellent walk through Barranco, a rather bohemian section of Lima, and great stops for food! We definitely did not go away hungry. Great local dishes and interesting Amazonian fruits served while enjoying some of the best views in the city. Highly recommend!

This was a fantastic and informative tour. We had such a good time that we spent the whole evening with Nicholas. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to explore the city of Lima, it truly changed our opinion of the city. Must do.

Miraflores, Barranco & San Isidro Tour (Small Group)
This tour, which combined driving and walking, covered five districts of Lima. It was amazing! From an olive tree park to views from the highest point in Lima. Our guide, Lucas, was very knowledgeable and our driver was professional. It provided us with a great introduction to a very interesting city! Highly recommend.

Craft Beer in Barranco
This was the greatest experience with locals treating you as one of them. From small micro breweries to major craft breweries made this an experience I would recommend to everyone! Nothing in the world like being treated as one of the locals! Felt like home with a new experience not to forget

Food Walking Tour in Barranco Neighbourhood of Lima
The Barranco neighbourhood was super cool to explore. We lucked out as we were visiting Lima close to Christmas so we were the only ones in our tour and basically got a private tour. Esmile was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable about Peru, the unique foods to the country, and its culture and history. We learned so much about the history and culture through the eclectic and flavourful food we tried at each stop. Our favourite spot was by far Isolina. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone!

Bohemian & Colorful Lima: Barranco and Callao City tour
Our first stop was Callao, a seaside town emerging from dilapidation, due to an arts initiative of mural paintings on buildings. The town is being revived with culture, art, and food! Many buildings are still rundown but with Alfonso as our guide, we felt safe! Barranco and MATE were awesome! Barranco is a trendy, bohemian town which is walkable and even has salsa sanding in the square. Our guide, Alfonso, was so knowledgeable and offered so much information about the history and culture of Lima! Very glad we went on this tour!
