The Basics
Housed in a neo-classical palazzo originally constructed for the Swiss National Bank, Rosengart Collection Lucerne features 125 career-spanning works by Paul Klee, 180 works by Pablo Picasso (with an emphasis on those created after 1938), and paintings and sketches by an additional 20 world-famous masters of the 19th and 20th centuries including Cezanne, Chagall, Modigliani, Monet, Matisse, Miró, and Léger.

How to Get There
Rosengart Collection Lucerne is located on Pilatusstrasse in the center of Lucerne, about a 3-minute walk from the main railway station. Buses from all directions arrive near the museum; the Bahnhof and the Kantonalbank stops are the closest. If driving, parking is available on-site.
When to Get There
Rosengart Collection Lucerne is open April - October, 10am - 6pm and November - March, 11am - 5pm. Come early to avoid crowds. Lucerne is a year-round destination, and with its proximity to the Alps, even the summers are pleasant. Peak season is from June to September, with July and August as the busiest and most expensive months. November through mid-April is ski season. Come in February or March for the carnival festival.
The Rosengarts and Picasso
Following in the art-collecting footsteps of her father, museum founder Angela Rosengart became an art dealer at the age of 16, first as an apprentice and then as a partner at Siegfried Rosengart’s art firm. Like her father, she had personal friendships with a number of the artists on display, including Picasso, a dear friend of her father’s. Don’t miss the drawings he made of the young Rosengart or the video on the second floor detailing the family’s experiences with the artists they collected.
