The three islands of Mazatlán are considered one of the most iconic symbols of the region. They are at once an interesting ecological study and a fantastic recreational space, thanks to their natural attributes and terrain. The islands were named according to the main species that inhabit or once inhabited them: Birds, Deer and Wolves. The largest and most popular island is Isla de Venados (Deer Island), located right in the middle of the three. It has the most extensive beach and is the best place in Mazatlan to practice snorkeling, thanks to small waves and crystal clear waters. Isla de Venados is ideal for swimming, jet skiing, banana boating, paddle surfing and also for hiking and exploring on land. With an impressive view of the coast of Mazatlan and the surrounding area, you’ll fall in love with the natural beauty and unique perspective that Isla de Venados offers. Don’t miss it!

Each vendor we stopped at was friendly and she translated everything perfectly. We had her all to ourselves and enjoyed the one on one attention. I loved that she even invited us to a cooking class at one of the vendors' homes as she is involved with that as well. We had another activity planned or would have loved to join her for that. We truly enjoyed our tour and everything we tried was delicious! The value for the money is unbeatable. My trip was almost two months ago and I am horrible at reviewing in a timely manner but if you get the chance to take this tour with Maaike, it is definitely something I highly recommend."

What we know today as the Mazatlan Lighthouse, one of the highest natural lighthouses in the world, is settled in what once was an island. It was in the year of 1828 when the Island of Crestón began to be used for maritime signaling the port of Mazatlán and until 1930 when the necessary work was done to unite this body of land separated from the port by the breakwater as we know it today. With a length of 641 meters, 321 meters wide and an altitude of 157 meters, the Mazatlan Lighthouse offers the ideal place to enjoy a 360 degree view of the bay landscapes. The perfect place to take photos of the nearby islands and the city!

* A traveler said: "Cesar picked us up at our hotel and escorted us to the lighthouse with a mini tour of Mazatlan (due to a bike rally making travel on Malecon diverted). Water and snacks were provided plus fees/BR visit and a personal guide thru the sights as we climbed the 322 steps. Reminded me of Sabino Canyon as passed many families on the same trek to a beautiful overview of Mazatlan and the surrounding ocean (glass bridge). All in all a wonderful experience with a bit of exercise, breathing in that ocean air!"
