Wadi Bani Khalid

Road 23 apprx. 40 km from Bidiyyah,Muscat-Sur Road, Wadi Bani Khalid, Oman

The Basics

Two particularly popular spots at Wadi Bani Khalid are well-known here for their natural beauty: Moqal Cave and the crystal-clear natural pools at the wadi’s narrow end. A path from the parking lot leads to the biggest pool before the trail continues into an ever-narrowing valley where you will find smaller pools and a small cave system. Along the way, soak in the paradise-like scenery, stop for refreshments, and swim in the waters.

Alternatively, book a tour to Wadi Bani Khalid. The wadi is a popular day trip from Muscat, and typical tours incorporate 4WD transportation and a guide. Some tour options couple the wadi with a dune bash at the Wahiba Sands, or include it on multi-day Oman tours. These longer excursions can range from three to 10 days, or more, and cover an overview of Oman’s sights, such as Nizwa, Sur, and Wadi Shab.

Enjoyed the trip to the dunes - including a special extra with toboggan. We visited the Bedouin home, rode through the sand, rode quad bikes, camels, and got a taste of history and geography of this part of Oman.

Quite unlike anything I’ve experienced before. The heat of the sands and the refreshing waters of the Wadi provided a fulfilling and contrasting experience. Hussein was a good guide

Full-Day Private Wahiba Sands Desert and Wadi Bani Khalid Tour
This was a great tour. Said arrived at my flat early in a 4-wheel drive vehicle. We drove to the desert which took a couple of hours. Said was great company, telling me about his family, the culture in Oman and many other things. We stopped for karak, a kind of chai that is very popular in Oman and some Omani bread, both were a real treat. The tour included some 4 wheeling in the sand, something you should really do with some familiar with the terrain since there are a lot of hazards which you need to know to avoid. A stop at a bedouin home and for lunch at a local house out in the desert were both really authentic touches. A great tour for a couple or a group, Said was a really good guide and just a nice guy. I would recommend.

Desert Safari to Wahiba Sands and Wadi Bani Khalid from Muscat
An incredible experience, truely memorable with plenty of time to swim in the natural river. The dune bashing just as adventurous and had time to look at the camels.
Amazing tour!
