In love with Australia Zoo

Croc Express to Australia Zoo from Brisbane
We had a terrific day at the Australia Zoo, which pays homage to the late wonderful Steve Irwin. The show at the Crocoseum was fun, but the best parts of this facility are its layout, its tremendous array of animals, its cleanliness and even the food was great! We were picked up a block away from our hotel and our driver gave us some interesting facts on the way there. We loved it!

The Australia Zoo was the highlight of my 2.5 week trip! I saw Norman ? the baby tiger walking next to me & held a koala, what could be better?? The bus was on-time & the hints they gave us about the zoo were great!

I've always wanted to visit the Australia zoo, so I was thrilled when I finally got the chance. The service was great, a friend and I took the bus from Brisbane to the zoo and back again, with a generous amount oftime at the zoo itself. The zoo is terrific, and our driver was very polite and entertaining. There was a slight confusion about pickup that could have been handled better on both sides, but overall I highly recommend, it was a great trip.

We got picked up from the hotel at 8am, we were the only ones on the bus this day but they were still more than happy to take us. On route our driver told us all about the zoo and gave advice on where to go during the day. Once arriving at the zoo he promptly got us in and told us when to meet him or to ring if we wanted to leave earlier. We couldn’t have asked for a better day and the price was brilliant for transfers and entry. I’d highly recommend!

A must do, especially if you love animals or just want to have a great day and be educated. Plenty of interesting things to see and do not just for children but adults too.

1st time in Australia

Croc Express to Australia Zoo from Brisbane
The tour guide drove us straight to the entrance of Australia Zoo. We were their a little early so 9-3:45. What I really liked is that I booked my tour the day before I went and within 1-2 hours I had someone calling me to confirm the pick up location. I don’t do a whole lot of traveling so this kind of communication definitely poor me at ease!! I will definitely do this next time I bring the family!!!

Australia Zoo fun time

Croc Express to Australia Zoo from Brisbane
Very nice zoo. Informative animal demonstrations. Need to schedule animal encounters waaaaaaay in advance. The conversation with the bus driver from Gold Coast to the Zoo was the my favorite part of the experience. He had great stories and terrific advice for having the best experience at the Australia Zoo.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Lines can be long, especially in peak season, so it’s best to buy tickets in advance.

  • On-site facilities include paid storage lockers, water fountains, ATMs, picnic areas, and a selection of restaurants, cafés, and gift shops.

  • Most of the zoo’s exhibitions are outdoors and you will likely do a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and bring sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water bottle.

  • The Australia Zoo is fully wheelchair accessible; wheelchair rentals are also available.

When to Get There

The Australia Zoo is open daily year-round, but the busiest time is in summer (December and January) or during school holidays. To avoid the crowds, opt for a weekday visit off-season. If traveling by car, arrive early and head straight to the most popular exhibitions before the crowds roll in.

Animal Experiences at the Australia Zoo

In addition to Aussie animals such as kangaroos, koalas, dingoes, Tasmanian devils, and platypus, the Australia Zoo features fauna from other regions: rhinos, giraffes, and cheetahs in an African savanna exhibition; Sumatran tigers at the tiger temple (which also includes an incredible underwater observatory); and elephants in the colossal Elephantasia exhibition. There’s also a Wildlife Warriors show held daily at the Crocoseum, a birds of prey display, and various options for supervised animal encounters and zoo tours.
