Instead of taking a traditional tour of Nuremberg, pair up with a local guide for a private walking tour. It’s a new travel concept that’s more like exploring the city with a friend; before your private walking tour of Nuremberg, you’ll connect with the Lokafyer guide to chat about your interests. That means an experience that’s tailored to you, not a one-size-fits-all tour.

* A traveler said: "We really enjoyed our walking tour of Old Town Nuremberg. Jason is a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. He made sure we had breaks if needed and that everyone was comfortable. We got a late start due to the train system, but Jason was careful to communicate with us very quickly about the delay. His German pronunciations and knowledge of the area inspire confidence. We would definitely book with this tour group again."

Kevin did a fantastic job of making history come to life and explaining the details in depth. I was a history major in college - graduate school, and even I learned many new things about his time period. It was a very informative tour and Kevin was a fantastic guide"

On March 22, 1933, a few weeks after Adolf Hitler had been appointed Reich Chancellor, a concentration camp for political prisoners was set up in Dachau. This camp served as a model for all later concentration camps and as a "school of violence" for the SS men under whose command it stood. In the twelve years of its existence over 200. 000 persons from all over Europe were imprisoned here and in the numerous subsidary camps. 41. 500 were murdered. On April 29 1945, American troops liberated the survivors.

* A traveler said: "Robson showed up early for pickup and provided information during the drive to Dachau. It was definitely worth doing the trip this way—trying to take the train to Munich and then going to Dachau would have been too much. Robson took very good care of us while we were at Dachau. He saw that my elderly mother was having trouble walking and procured a wheelchair for her use. He also obtained audio guides, guided us to the film at the documentation center, and arranged for us to join one of the tours in English. In addition, we told him we needed to purchase train tickets from Nuremberg to Regensburg to join our cruise and he offered todo the transfer himself for a very reasonable price. For pickup to Regensburg, he was again waiting for us when we were ready to go. Robson took very good care of us and I highly recommend him. He is Brazilian and very friendly."

Adolf Dassler (known as "Adi") began producing his own sports shoes in the kitchen of his mother's house in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria after his return from World War I. In 1927. During the 1936 Summer Olympics, Adi Dassler headed from Bavaria to the Olympic Village to convince African-American sprinter Jesse Owens to wear his shoes. Owens was the first African American athlete to be sponsored by the Dassler brothers. When the sprinter was awarded four gold medals, success confirmed the reputation of Dassler shoes among the most famous sportsmen in the world, piquing the interest of coaches from various national teams.

*BEFORE BOOKING PLEASE CONTACT ME TO CHECK MY AVAILABILITY* Nuremberg was once a powerful imperial city and a center of economic activity. The prosperous city provided the ideal foundation for cultural and intellectual life. Even today numerous buildings and monuments reflect its former place within the Holy Roman Empire. Who exactly was Sigena? Who are the little men in red who appear on the front of the clock of Our Lady's Church at noon? How did obscure Nuremberg become the third largest city in the German empire? These questions, and many more, will be answered during this tour which offers a journey through Nuremberg's rise to greatness, providing historical background and insights in a fun and informative format. *BEFORE BOOKING PLEASE CONTACT ME TO CHECK MY AVAILABILITY* You've probably already been on a beer tour or two in cities like Munich or Prague. Now it's time to try a beer tour that takes you out into the countryside where nearly every pathway leads to a brewery. The countryside that I'm referring to is the Franconian Switzerland region near Nuremberg. It is world famous for its high density of traditional breweries. Case in point: in Germany there are 1, 284 breweries and more than half of them (618) brew their beer in Bavaria and 201 of them in Upper Franconia. And. . . 73 of the 201 Upper Franconian breweries are located in the Franconian Switzerland region which makes it the largest concentration of breweries in the world. But wait, it gets better. . . according to the Guinness Book of Records, the small village of Aufsess in Franconian Switzerland, as measured by its number of inhabitants (1, 400), has the highest brewery density (four breweries) in the entire world!

Meet the guide and the rest of the tour group and roam through the city’s Old Town, admiring the beautiful timber-framed houses and cobblestone streets. Marvel at the massive City Walls of Old Town Nuremberg, which still run for approximately four kilometers. Behind the walls, walk past the Craftsmen's Courtyard, where glass cutters, leather workers, gold and silversmiths, stained-glass painters and other artisans offer their wares for sale. See the gothic St. Lawrence Church, which was rebuilt after World War II; Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt, Germany’s most famous Christmas market; plus Town Hall, German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer's house and the Imperial Castle courtyards, to name just some of the attractions.
