The Basics

The Acropolis of Rhodes is one of the most accessible ancient sites on the island. Alongside the Temple of Apollo, other notable ruins include the remnants of an 800-capacity Roman odeon and traces of a 3rd-century BC stadium. Most guided tours of Rhodes include a visit to the acropolis. These include half-day tours to Rhodes’ eastern side and full-day trips around the island, which typically stop at the 4,000-year-old Acropolis of Lindos as well.

Very enlightening tour of Rhodes with Andrew as our guide. He was very knowledgeable about Rhodes and answered all our questions happily. He also accommodated a small change to stop at kalithea springs which was just beautiful. We would definitely recommend.

RHODES BEST INTRODUCTION - FOR FIRST TIME VISITORS - HALF DAY - Up to 4 People
Nicholas A Rhodes was our tour operator who met us at port and introduced us to our driver and guide, MIchael. Michael made all aspects of our tour enjoyable and educational. He could not have been more accommodating. Towards the end of our tour Nicholas Rhodes called to make sure all was going well and that we were satisfied. We highly recommend MIchael as a guide and driver.

We had a great day and it was way better then one of the bus excursions from the ship. More personal and our driver could go where the buses couldn’t!

BEST OF RHODES - HALF DAY PRIVATE TOUR - max 4 people
Dominique was our driver and he was the best. He has been doing this for over 30 years and not only showed us the best sights but allowed us to customize anything we wanted. His knowledge of the island and history was better than any tour guide we've had on this holiday so far.

Best of RHODES & LINDOS Private Tour
We loved this Rhodes & Lindos private tour. The very best part was the guide- Nikos. His car was comfortable and had great air conditioning; which was especially important because of the heat wave. We were a group of three spanning 3 generations. The guide was especially kind to my 77 year old mother. He made the day more wonderful than we expected. We saw so much, learned even more, and had a fantastic day!

RHODES BEST INTRODUCTION - FOR FIRST TIME VISITORS - HALF DAY - Up to 4 People
Best way for cruise passengers to see the many sides of Rhodes at their own pace. Manouel our driver was great, he was waiting for us as we got off the ship and he filled our day with history, information and fun stories about life in Rhodes. Manouel was prepared, knowing the current information about one of our sites closing at Noon due to the extreme heat wave so we were able to adjust our itinerary to go to Lindos right away, which was perfect.

Best of RHODES & LINDOS Private Tour
Covering the most important cultural and historical sites of Rhodes and Lindos, the trip was informative, enjoyable, and comfortable. It would be especially good for first time visitors, as there is plenty to see and learn in just 5 hours. 1.5 hours in Lindos are enough to walk to the top to the Acropolis, though I would recommend comfortable non-slippery shoes and the absence of joint problems! The car was comfortable, clean, and air conditioned. And the driver, Nicolas, took care of my comfort, adjusting the seat, buying me a bottle of water, discussing the stops etc. And although he is officially called a driver not a guide, and kept remind me about it, he was much more than just a driver (driving was very good and safe, by the way). He did his best to share his love of Rhodes and knowledge of it, showing me both famous sites and also some hidden gems, which one would never see from a tourist bus. I cannot praise him highly enough. That was the most enjoyable trip, and I have a pleasure of recommending it.

When to Get There

While the grounds are open 24 hours a day, the best time to visit the acropolis is around sunset, when the views across the city and sea from the Temple of Pythian Apollo are often spectacular. However, this is also the busiest time—consider a sunrise visit to get the place a little more to yourself.
