Visiting Seoul for the First Time? Here's What to See and Do
Seoul captures the imagination—here's how to make the most of the South Korean capital.
Experience all things football (soccer) at Football Faentasium in Seoul, the first football-themed experience museum in South Korea. Founded by the Korean Football Association, the museum features six different zones with interactive exhibits and virtual reality experiences where visitors can play and learn all about “the beautiful game.”
Learn about the history of South Korea’s World Cup Challenges, and in particular the 2002 World Cup. Take photos in various football poses and positions. Test out your free kicks, penalty kicks, and goalkeeping in virtual reality, which will also allow you to step into the shoes of a national-team member just before a big game. Or look for hidden national-team members using augmented reality.
Many people visit the museum as part of a Seoul World Cup Stadium tour, which may include access to different locker rooms and practice rooms. Entrance to the museum is also included in a number of Seoul sightseeing passes.
Football Faentasium is a must-visit for football fans in Korea.
Free lockers are available upon request.
Outside food and drinks are not permitted; there’s a café on-site.
Reentry is permitted within one hour of initial entry.
Football Faentasium is wheelchair-accessible, but not all activities are.
Football Faentasium is located in the West Wing of the World Cup Stadium in Seoul. To get there, take line 6 of the subway to World Cup station (exit 2), then walk in the direction of Seomun to the West Wing.
Football Faentasium is open daily, year-round, with the exception of Lunar New Year’s Day and Chuseok. Most people spend between 60 and 90 minutes here. Many visitors combine a visit to Football Faentasium with a tour of the Seoul World Cup Stadium or a K-league football match in season (March to November).
A number of parks are located near Football Faentasium and the Seoul World Cup Stadium, including World Cup Park (which is made up of Sky Park, Sunset Park, Nanji Stream Park, Nanji Han River Park, and Peace Park), Oil Tank Culture Park, and the Square of Peace.
