Shanghai Museum of Arts and Crafts
Formerly the Arts & Crafts Research Institute, the museum is housed in a beautiful French Renaissance-style mansion. Although the museum is small, the exhibits are well curated. There are several exhibition halls with more than 300 exhibits, and 10 workshops occupied by about 50 artisans. Take note of the interior furnishings of the building, and be sure to take a stroll around the beautiful gardens.
Visit the museum independently, or as part of a sightseeing tour that also stops at other popular Shanghai attractions like the Bund, Xin Tian Di, and Yuyuan Garden. Customizable private tours are also available.

History of the Museum Building
The elegant building that houses the museum was built in 1905. Formerly the headquarters of the Municipal French Council, it also once housed the UN World Health Organization, and former Shanghai mayor Chen Yi. The Arts & Crafts Research Institute took up residence in 1963, and in 2002 became the Shanghai Museum of Arts and Crafts.
