National Revolutionary Martyrs’ Shrine
As well as featuring a main shrine, a series of smaller halls, a bell tower, and a drum tower, the landmark offers scenic views of Taipei. The National Revolutionary Martyrs’ Shrine is among Taipei’s most popular attractions; as such, it features on most half- and full-day sightseeing tours. Explore the shrine on foot or as part of a Taipei sightseeing tour by bus, which typically also cover Taipei 101, National Palace Museum, and Lungshan Temple.

Bring a hat, sunglasses, and water on hot days: the shrine’s central courtyard is open to the elements and doesn’t offer much shade.
How to Get There
The shrine is located in Taipei’s Zhongshan District. The closest Metro station is Dazhi Station, which is a 5-minute drive or 15-minute walk away. Jiantan Station, served by the Tamsui-Xinyi Line, is a 10-minute bus ride away. The landmark can also be reached by bike or by taxi.
When to Get There
The National Revolutionary Martyrs’ Shrine is open daily from 9am-5pm. The Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place hourly; the ceremony lasts for approximately 15 minutes, and offers plenty of opportunities for photos. The shrine is particularly busy on March 29 (Youth Day) and September 3 (Armed Forces Day), when the president attends annual, memorial ceremonies.
