Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT)
The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo building is an attraction in itself, with its geometric metal and glass construction beside a beautiful green park The galleries have high ceilings, which are used creatively to display the art. Most visitors spend a half-day here, combined with a sightseeing trip to nearby neighborhoods such as Ginza or the sumo center of Ryogoku.

There is an on-site library with around 100,000 art-related books. You can search the catalog on the museum’s website before your visit.
As it would be easy to spend a whole day here, there’s an on-site restaurant and café.

How to Get There
The museum is on the edge of Kiba Park in eastern Tokyo. The easiest way to get there is by subway. Take the Tozai line to Kiba station, or the Oedo line to Kiyosumi-shirakawa station. It’s a short walk from either station.
When to Get There
The museum is periodically closed for renovations, so check the website before visiting. With three floors displaying temporary exhibits, there’s often something new to see. Check the website to see what’s will be showing when you go.

Art lovers will find a lot to interest them in Tokyo. The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, located within Ueno Park, shows a wide range of Japanese and international art. Its collections span a wider period than the Museum of Contemporary Art, so the two museums complement each other. Plus, Ueno Park is a must-visit destination in Northern Tokyo.
