Ways to Experience Black and White Magic in Turin

Ways to Experience Black and White Magic in Turin

The northern Italian city of Turin (Torino) may be best known for its religious relics like the famous Shroud of Turin, but it is also home to myths, legends, and a reputation for magic. Read on to learn about Turin’s supernatural side and how to engage with it during a visit.

History of Black Magic in Turin

The location of Turin contributes to its reputation for magic. The city supposedly lies on the axis of black magic (along with London and San Francisco) and on the axis of white magic (together with Lyon and Prague). Legends of black magic go as far back as the times of the ancient Romans, and stories of the occult have thrived here for centuries. Today, Satanic faces and devilish sculptures are seen throughout the historic city center, and locals point to sites like the location of Turin’s medieval gallows when discussing the city’s black energy.

Ways to Experience Black Magic in Turin

You can discover Turin’s rich history of black magic through a range of tours and activities. After dark, board a coach to explore the streets of Turin for a tour focused on the occult. Along the way, hear about Turin’s two types of magic (black and white), see an ancient Roman burial site, and check out the city’s top landmarks including the Duomo. A nighttime walking tour featuring spooky ghost stories and legends of unsolved murders offers another lens into Turin’s mysterious past.

Unusual tour of Turin for curious people

Unusual tour of Turin for curious people

star-5
22
The Unusual tour is the most complete and informative walking tour (at least 3.5 hours) through the touristic and non-touristic spots of Turin: historical cafes, noble buildings, authentic places with traditions and intriguing stories, hidden gems, private residential courtyards also off the beaten track, "unexpected" churches with their treasures and even underground. The hours will fly by and you will certainly not get bored, I promise! - Why is there a "devil" in the Royal Church? - Where's "Mussolini's finger"? - Why are there 18 km of underground tunnels and arcades? - Have you ever heard about 2017 Turin's tragedy? My style is ironical, informal and friendly, for curious people who want to be amazed by the city...like you! Forget about the guides with an umbrella, their list of dates and big groups, because I want to give 100% of my attention to everyone. Consider me like your LOCAL FRIEND, with whom you can also joke and have fun, not a guide! I recommend this tour to those want to understand the city with a local who knows many fascinating stories and unique places that you could not otherwise find. Moreover, also loving photography, I have designed an itinerary that will allow you to take very interesting photos. Do not just expect to walk and listen: get ready to chat, discuss the past, present and future of Turin, way beyond what's on the surface, in a journey backwards from 2021 to 15 BC! ✓✓✓ IMPORTANT: please WRITE to me BEFORE booking (to +39 33 94 60 48 85 or here in the Q&A section) since, depending on your time availability and language, another day/hour would fit you better (the tour can be in 4 languages) and I could ask you to change day. I will answer as soon as I can! I also do a shorter, 2-hour tour on a part of this itinerary, in case you want to spend less and walk less. Here you can find all my tours, for different budgets and needs: https://www.tripadvisor.it/Attraction_Review-g187855-d17535149-Reviews-Melissoula-Turin_Province_of_Turin_Piedmont.html?m=19905

Truffle tour from Turin

Truffle tour from Turin

Hassle-free tour with driver and private van, up to 7 people only! Depart from central Turin and drive to the countryside of Piedmont, on the hills around the town of Alba where the precious truffles grow. After a 40-45 minutes drive, meet the truffle hunter and the dog and follow them in a walk in the wood learning about trees, soil composition and other facts about the environment needed for truffles to grow. The season of white truffles goes from end of September until January. In late springtime and summer it is possible to find black truffles. Regardless of the type of truffles found, the experience doesn’t change as our aim is to show you the dog in action and provide a full presentation about the truffles of Alba. The walk in the wood requires appropriate footwear as the path can be slippery, uneven and occasionally muddy. A limited number of rubber boots is available, please inquiry at time of booking.

Turin STREET ART tour (open-air museum)

Turin STREET ART tour (open-air museum)

star-5
6
This tour is a visit to more than 50 painted buildings in a pictoresque district with cobbled streets not far from the city center. It is designed for those who want to see a different and not-turisty side of Turin's architecture, concentrated in one compact district with painted facades and windows, artistic benches and even a street painting gallery. Do you know that it's the first open-air contemporary art museum in an urban center in Italy (and most of people of Turin do not know it)? The wall paintings increase year by year, they have very different styles, materials, supports, techniques: you will certainly not get bored! Variety and colors are the keywords of this visit. I studied Art History at Turin's University and will share with you all my knowledge, but I would like you to express our opinion too, we will make comparisons and learn together, in an informal experience with your LOCAL FRIEND. And no big groups, because I want to give 100% of my attention to everyone. Being a teacher of Italian for foreigners, you can practice your Italian and ask me whatever you like about Italian culture, lifestyle, etc. I'll be happy to satisfy your curiosity! THE SCHEDULE YOU SEE IS PURELY INDICATIVE. ✓✓✓ IMPORTANT: please WRITE to me BEFORE booking (to +39 33 94 60 48 85 or here in the section Q&A) since, depending on your time availability and language, maybe another day/hour would fit you better and I could ask you to change the day (the tour can be in 4 language). The unexpected Turin: last minute PRIVATE tour

The unexpected Turin: last minute PRIVATE tour

star-5
5
After 450 tours with Airbnb, I selected a short but enchanting Turin itinerary, full of picturesque views, history and curious stories, from an insider angle. If you: - enjoy exploring cities on your own but want to get the best tips from a local expert who has been living in Turin for 44 years - want to see unique spots that you wouldn't find otherwise, like the underground "cellars" - have a certain budget but don't want to give up on doing a guided tour - have little time to visit Turin and look for a last minute tour - want to see the city at the best time for you in a PRIVATE tour - don't feel walking too long then I can't wait to show you my Turin with an one-hour tour to my favorite part of the city, where tourists normally don't go and where you'll see places you don't expect that not even the Turinese really know. Let me surprise you! I'll be at your complete disposal for any questions about Turin: what to visit, eat, transport, culture, language, to make your experience as useful as possible and to be able to move later independently in a big city like Turin. My style is ironic, informal and passionate. Consider me your LOCAL FRIEND with whom you can also have fun (why not!), not a guide! ✓✓✓ IMPORTANT: please WRITE to me BEFORE booking (in the Q&A or to +39 33 94 60 48 85) since, depending on your (and my) time availability, we'll set the best schedule for both: THE SCHEDULE YOU SEE ONLINE IS PURELY INDICATIVE *** Time will fly by because the historic center offers so much to do and see; if you have the option to take a longer tour (2 or 3,5 hours), please tell me before booking as it might be worth it. Turin is the third biggest city in Italy; in 1 hour we can't cover the whole city, but it will be an inspirational sample.
