Teatro La Fenice Tour in Venice
Beautiful place to visit! Our guide was lovely (Alessia, I think was her name) and gave great information about the theatre. We were even lucky enough to see an upcoming opera being rehearsed! Would thoroughly recommend this tour!

Step back in time at this beautiful historic theatre

Teatro La Fenice Tour in Venice
This is a beautiful and historic theatre, and its authentic restoration belies its contemporary features. You could almost feel you were there in the 1880s. Good guide with lots of interesting facts, and it’s always more interesting to be able to ask your own questions. An audio tour doesn’t give you that. It’s worth finding an hour or so to see this piece of history.

The Rise of the Phoenix

The theater’s name, La Fenice—or “The Phoenix”—pays tribute to an earlier theater, owned by the same company, that burned down. Unfortunately, the name proved prescient—La Fenice burned down twice, first in 1836 and again in 1996. Both times, though, it was rebuilt.
