Hmm...we can’t seem to find this place. Please check the spelling, or choose another location.

This activity will end right where it started.
Make your own way to the Athens Red Line ticket station and meet your private guide, a professional archaeologist. Get a fascinating introduction to the afternoon ahead, and then set out on your Viator Exclusive: a unique mix of an Acropolis walking tour, New Acropolis Museum visit and dinner.

Walk up the south slope of the Acropolis, the ancient hilltop citadel that’s home to the remnants of several magnificent buildings. Constructed during the heyday of ancient Greece in the 5th century BC, the area includes the famous Parthenon.

At the top, take a tour of the ruins as your guide provides insightful commentary on their construction, history and excavation. Stroll to the Theatre of Dionysus — an amphitheater regarded as the birthplace of the performing arts. Settle on a stone seat and imagine the sights and sounds experienced by long-ago audiences who came here to watch plays by Greek writers such as Euripides, Sophocles and Aeschylus.

Gaze at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus; a theater still used every summer for the Athens Festival, and inspect the site of the Asclepeion — where a healing temple dedicated to the god of medicine Asclepius once stood.

Then, make your way to the Acropolis’ showpiece: the Parthenon. One of the world’s most recognized buildings, this spectacular temple was designed to give thanks to Athena, Athens’ patron goddess. Walk around the perimeter with your guide as you learn how this beautifully symmetrical Doric gem has served as a temple, church and even a mosque through the centuries.

Continue to the stunning New Acropolis Museum, the ultra-modern museum that contains the archaeological treasures found at the Acropolis site. Explore the collections of statues, friezes and other antiquities in the light and airy galleries as your guide uncovers intriguing facts about their history. As you walk around, gaze down through the glass floors to see the showcased archaeological excavations where many of the exhibits were discovered.

Lastly, make your way to a nearby, well-regarded restaurant that boasts fabulous views of the Parthenon. Take a seat and savor a delicious meal of classic Greek dishes, washed down with a bottle of wine. As you eat, admire the views and chat over your afternoon of fascinating discoveries. Your experience ends when you leave the restaurant.

A Grand Tour Through Grand Ruins
Atilio_C
, Jul 2019
We highly enjoyed this tour. Stelio, our amazing guide, provided a lot of interesting details and made it very enjoyable, even for my 14 year old daughter and despite of the variety of topics that are covered. We came to Athens just to visit the Acropolis and learn about Ancient Greece. This tour fully satisfied our objective and I strongly recommend it! Thank you!

Tour and dinner wonderful. Very crowded and hot but we managed. Recommend on documents put meeting time as I had to call for start time. Tour identified as full day with dinner but I felt it wasn't a full day as advertised.

We took the private tour (for just the two us) to see the historic sites of the Acropolis and the nearby museum. Our guide Alexandria was outstanding. She was extremely knowledgeable (she's an archeologist), had a very pleasant and friendly personality and spoke English well. The tour was several hours with lots of walking so it's not for those with limited physical abilities. After the tour, we were escorted to a lovely quiet restaurant for dinner.

Rose our tour guide was lovely. The tickets to the Acropolis that she had, had expired and poor Rose had to buy new ones for the company out of her own pocket. Note: even international students get a discount. She walked us to the Restaurant and after being greeted as a voucher customer, we felt like unwanted guests. The view was that of the Elevator entrance better view from our motel restaurant Positives: the food was great and the wait staff were helpful and efficient. Overall i felt it was an expensive option.

TOUR OPERATOR COMMENT: Thank you for your feedback. Please rest assured, Rose was reimbursed in full by our company as our guides are never required to pay for services out of their own pockets. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the food and hope to be of service to you again in the future.

We ended up with a private tour because no one else showed up. Our tour guide was great. Very knowledgable. The museum was nice. The Greek dinner was just okay. Honestly, for the price we paid, I expected a better dinner.

We had a tour guide, Daphne, all to ourselves. She was wonderful. She took very good care of us since we are in our sixties, taking her time as we ascended the stairs and making sure we took care not to slip on the marble steps. She was very knowledgeable and sweet. Afterwards we had a wonderful dinner at a quaint little restaurant with plenty of delicious food to eat and wine to drink. We were so full we could barely fit in the scrumptuous dessert. We also had a nice view of the lit up Parthenon in the evening.

A bucket list tour for me. The tour was excellent and well worth the extra price to have a private guide. Because it was a private tour, we were able to ask a lot of questions and linger at areas we were interested in, rather than be rushed along with a group. The museum is beautiful and the exhibits are wonderful. Our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. Most importantly, she was kind. I had spine fusion surgery four months prior to the tour. My goal was to be able to climb to the top of the Acropolis. It was extremely difficult for me and took a very long time. More than once I was nearly in tears and certain that I wouldn't make it. She was my champion, encouraging me, letting me stop to rest - and she never looked impatient. I can't thank her enough. Going to the Acropolis is something I have wanted to do all my life. Thank you so much for a wonderful day!

My wife and I spent the last afternoon of our nine-day Mediterranean vacation touring the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum with a private guide who was extremely knowledgeable about ancient Greek culture, their philosophy and architecture. Having studied Greek architecture a bit in college and having visited many ancient sites while on this vacation, our guide provided with new information and insights we did not expect. She was able to guide us efficiently through the museum, which deserves more than a couple of hours, but with limited time, this was the best immersion into the history and sites we wanted to get exposed to. We had a little miscommunication about the start time which was quickly addressed after a short call to the Athens Walk Tour Company who provided our guide. At the end of the tour, the finale of our trip was dinner overlooking the Acropolis at night and was a experience that exceeded our expectations.

Our guide Mariza shared with us her love, knowledge, and enthusiasm, about Greece, Athens, Acropolis, Parthenon, Greek mythology, and classical time technology. We were very pleased to meet her and learn a lot about her beautiful country. She is very nice and friendly person. Thank you Mariza, very much! The restaurant has nice view on Acropolis it locates on the roof and the food was OK.

Maria, our guide, was a well educated young woman who could tell an old couple the details of Ancient Greece and the cultural maturation without totally confusing us. Very accommodating and helpful to me. I am disabled, and Maria made sure that I was able to appreciate the beauty and progression .

Excellent way to see the Acropolis and the Museum and be introduced to Greek history. Our guide, Anna was wonderful with her stories of Greek history and mythology. We could tell Anna was extremely passionate and knowledgeable through her storytelling. The Greek dinner was lovely with nice staff and in a great location overlooking the Acropolis. Myself, my husband and our 14 year old son thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

There were seven of us on a family trip. Our guide was great and very engaging. I think her name started with an M. I am sorry I don't recall because she was terrific. She is also the first guide I have ever had that refused to accept a gratuity - and she certainly deserved one!! The dinner was also very nice with a good nighttime view of the Acropolis. There was too much yes, too much food, however, and I felt bad that we were not able to come close to finishing all that was served to us.

My wife and I were the only ones on this tour so we had the wonderful guide Annie to ourseleves. Really great tour of the Acropolis and museum. Food at the restaurant was nice and the staff were friendly, but we and other organised tour customers were seated with a very poor view of the stair well.

This private tour of the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum with Greek dinner was excellent. Our tour guide, Rosa, was very knowledgeable and personable. She told a story of Greek history and Greek mythology using the museum artifacts and the Acropolis to illustrate the topic. Rosa was very informative and you could sense she enjoyed what she was sharing. And the dinner was excellent. It was a prix fixe meal but there were enough options for all and it was all delicious. Also, our dinner was on a rooftop restaurant that had the Acropolis in its view. You could watch the sun go down and the Acropolis light up.What a night!

Wow what a great experience with our guide Edie! She knows so much about everything we saw. We could have done it by ourselves and missed so much of the story. She also engaged our 15 year old son which is not easy. Evening tour is the best time the marble of the acropolis was glowing.

Simply AMAZING! Our guide was fantastic sorry, his card is at home and I cannot remember his name and spent so much time with us. He truly appreciated the history and shared so many insights and ideas with us. The dinner was also fantastic, but they did try to only serve us a glass of wine, rather than the bottle of wine that the tour included, so watch that. I would highly recommend this tour and will update with the guide's name because you should ask for him!
