A very fulfilling lavender day!

Gilles was such a funny tour guide :)
The tour went very smoothly and we not only visited 1 nor 2 but 3 lavender fields (well 3.5, the other 0.5 was seen from afar)!
The timing was perfect and the car ride was very comfortable.
Communication with him pre-trip was excellent as well.
100% would recommend but go during the blooming season like early/mid july.
A great day, even though it rained

Unfortunately, the day we planned our Provence Villages and Lavender Fields tour it rained hard. Fortunately, our driver, Gilles, reworked the itinerary and drove us to the location of the remaining lavender fields first. We started out near Sault. The lavender fields were sparse (end of July), but we knew that would be the case. Nevertheless, they ticked the box for seeing and smelling the beautiful lavender and bucolic French countryside. Our shoes and pant legs were quite muddied due to the rain, but we were able to get some good lavender field shots before moving on to Sault. Sault was a charming village. We purchased some nice lavender products there, which was good because there weren't too many better shopping opportunities after. We had a lavender flavored ice cream. The ice cream was great quality, but the lavender was a bit strong. I would recommend another flavor. I grabbed a small sandwich at the boulangerie, because it was unclear where we would have lunch given the rain and detours. The boulangerie was fantastic and we got a peek at the bread oven. We then went to Rousillon, which is just beautiful. Fortunately, the rain had subsided and we were able to stroll around unfettered by the rain and enjoy a nice lunch on a rear patio overlooking the valley. We ate at one of the two restaurants across from the Hotel de Ville. The food was just so-so, but the service was very pleasant and the view fantastic. Others that opted for restaurants without the views reported better food. We then went near Gordes. This part of the tour was a little weird. Gilles told us he could not drive us to the center and drop us, but we could walk to it and return. He mentioned that there wasn't much to see. It looked too far to comfortably walk to, so we all took photos and loaded up and took off. Later, we actually drive through Gordes and he asked if we wanted to stop and look around. It actually looked interesting and worth a walk around, but we were all tired by that time and opted to keep moving. We also went to the Abbaye to Senanque, which is the quintessential Abbaye you see in photos with gorgeous lavender growing in front of it. Unfortunately, the lavender was not in full force when we visited. There were only small, baby plants in front. However, there were some other fields a bit further away. We opted to take a tour of the Abbaye itself, which was quite beautiful. The last stop was really nice, Fontaine de Vaucluse. Gilles did a great job.
Our tour was beautiful even though...

Our tour was beautiful even though it was a hot day. We ended up as a private tour as we were the only passengers that day. Our tour guide was on time and gave us several good tips as we went around in the different towns. If I had one suggestion though, he drove quite too fast but glad we made it safe! We also went to the lavender distillery and had the opportunity to see how they make lavender essential oils. At the end of the tour, he took us to this shop and we tasted the best lavender ice cream! If I had to do this tour again, I will probably go earlier on July where there the fields are more blooming of the lavenders. However, we took great pictures and are satisfied we crossed this off our bucket list.

The tour was amazing! I've taken dozens of tours across the world and this one was by far one of the best ones and just incomparable to other tours I did in Provence. Giles was very knowledgeable and fun with many stories to share about the places we visited. It was the biggest highlight of my trip

We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.
