The Cave kayaking...

The Cave kayaking experience was excellent and we truly enjoyed it. The van driver Abner was also very good. However, the van itself was very uncomfortable and perhaps dangerous. The air conditioning cooled only the front area and there were holes in the floor boards allowing road debris and exhaust to enter the interior. The seats were broken in the back and we could mot hear any information the driver was discussing.
Would do this again!

Our Kayaking adventure in the jungle of Belize was my favorite activity of our cruise! Jeremy met us as described in the confimation docs and we were off to the jungle! He was extremely informative and friendly - once there we had a 45 walk to the entrance point where the kayaks are. True you have to cross a river 3xs, but there is no current so it is very easy and fun. Just wear hiking sandles. The kayak trip offers a longer trip and you are autonomous. The only thing I had on the kayak w/ me was a water proof camera - travel light. Note that you can leave things in the van that you arrive in and it is the same van that takes you back. A wonderful experience ... for you birders- we heard a Keel-Billed Toucan when we came out of the caves and into the jungle!
Jeremy did an amazing job...

Loved this excursion. We weren’t able to kayak, due to too much rain. Went tubing instead. They took us on a long trail walk which ended at the caves. It was great, water was cold but it stays the same temp all the time. Guides took our orders for lunch, lunch was phenomenal. If you’re on a ship book for the earliest tour. It’s about an hour drive, and our ship was leaving at 330 and they were booking it to get us back on time.

Amazing adventure - we Traveled by bus from the terminal to the park, Fully informed and entertained buy our guide Jeremey who introduced us to our other two guides for the trip Abner and Abner. We hiked through the Jungle crossed the river 3 times (Gets deeper each time and more refreshing (Cold but amazing) we snacked on the local Jungle treats ya know termites and a few other plants. Got to our Kayaks waiting for us. We were already geared and ready to go Headgear, lights, life vests. Bring a waterproof camera you're gonna love it.. And don't skimp the lunch was excellent. The hot sauce rocks it.. Unforgettable!!!

Amazing and unique tour!!!

We had an awesome time with Roberto and Jeremy. Both of them were very personable and had great sense of humor. Roberto provided us with good background information and humor in the drive to the site. When we arrived we had a nice easy 20 minute walk through the rain forest as the guides showed us local plants and animals. We were supposed to kayak but since it had just rained previously, they said it was better to do tubing instead. The tubing was so much fun and so interesting as we floated down the river through beautiful caves and rain forest. I think you would be very hard pressed to find something as amazing as this anywhere else. The only thing I would add is that guests should know that they will get wet so wear a bathing suit and bring a change of clothes, there are bathrooms and changing rooms there. The walk in requires crossing a river which is about waist deep, you will also get wet while tubing or kayaking. Amazing tour and tour guides!!!!

Jeremy meet us at the exit of the Belize port terminal. We loaded up in a van with 4 other people and traveled through town on our way to the river and caves where we were going to kayak. Jeremy was a native and very familiar with the country. He was very accommodating and went out of his way to take care of us and make sure our excursion lived up to our expectations. The kayak excursion was our best experience of our 7 day cruise. It was an unbelievable experience of walking through the jungle and crossing the river 3 times on foot. We kayaked through a series of tunnels that had calm clear water. We couldn't think of many places on Earth someone could experience something as unique and beautiful as this. We ate a local dish of rice, beans, and chicken for $10 per plate before heading back to the port. Jeremy took total responsibility for our care and safety. There was a large clean changing/restroom facility for us to use before and after kayaking. Jeremy was the perfect host/guide for our excursion. We would highly recommend the kayak excursion for anyone traveling to Belize City.

Great time.

Great time with Roberto and Nelson. Good background information and tour in the drive to the site. There we were outfitted with gear and had a wonderful hike through the jungle as the guides showed us local plants and animals. We then boarded the kayaks and we able to paddle upstream into caves the tubers couldn’t access. Then we floated down the river through beautiful caves and jungle. Overall the trip was great.
Only thing I would add is guests should know they will get wet. The walk in requires crossing the River, which is about chest deep. It also helps if you have some experience with kayaks, but not required. There was a person in our group who had never been in a kayak. The guide Had her ride with him.
Enjoyable trip! A special look at Belize.

Abner was very informative during the entire bus ride, the walk to the caves and even when in the cave. He was funny, kind and knowledgeable. The caves were beautiful and the tubing was fun. You aren't getting a thrill ride. It's calm and gives you a chance to enjoy the space. I was in the third row of attached tubes and could see fine, but I wonder if you were in the middle if you'd see more of the people in front and behind you than the cave. Just speculation...

Magical Mystery Tour of the Caves!

, Dec 2021
This was exactly what we were hoping for! We'd done this before, and we knew what we didn't want (HUGE group, always waiting for others to finish, rushed, etc.).
We booked and received the information we needed easily. It was a simple process. When we arrived in Belize, we took the tender on the cruise ship as early as possible, and followed the directions right to the guide. We waited a little while for everyone to arrive because there were a few excursions gathering at the same time.
We boarded a small bus/van (with A/C) and headed out with our terrific guide Abner. The drive is about an hour, and he told great stories about Belize and gave really interesting information.
We arrived at the site, got our equipment, and headed out on the 30-minute walk to the river. You cross three small rivers (the deepest is chest height). The walk is not strenuous, but it would not be good for people with mobility issues at all.
We arrived at the river, got the tubes, got them lashed together and set off.
The caves are astonishing, and you have to wear helmets with lights to see. They're so incredible, and it's wonderful to just relax and look and look and look.
As you come out of the cave, you see the people who booked with the cruise ship get out, and you realize that you have made a better choice because you continue down the river. This part is magical. The greens are so amazing, and it's so lush and gorgeous. It feels like you're in Alice in Wonderland, almost.
We arrived back, carried our tubes a little ways to return them, and then went to eat lunch. If you want lunch, you pay for it ahead of time when you arrive at the site. They give you chicken, beans and rice, cole slaw, and fried plantains with fruit punch for $10 (December 2021). You can buy other beverages, including beer & other drinks if you prefer.
After lunch, we drove back, and we arrived at the dock about 2:45, which was more than enough time for our tenders.
Tips:
- bring insect repellent
- bring water shoes
- You will not need sunglasses or hats.
- bring cash for tips (We tipped the driver $10 and the guide $20 for each person.)
- bring cash for lunch and a couple of dollars for tips for lunch
- bring a towel or change of clothes (you leave all your stuff on the bus)
- bring a phone protector to keep it from getting wet
- The guide doesn't talk on the way back, so bring headphones and take a bumpy siesta.
- We wore rashguards and swim trunks/shorts, and that was perfect. Others wore swim suits. You will get wet.
Perfect day in Belize

From pick up, to bus ride, to the cave kayaking this company is professional and pleasant. We had perfect directions to find them when we got off the ship and they were exactly where they said they would be. Safety was always a priority from the bus ride to the kayaking. During the drive they shared many interesting facts about the history of the people and their country. Although the kayaking and jungle where amazing, I very much enjoyed learning about their culture and felt this was a huge bonus to the excursion. The kayak supplies and safety equipment was all in good working condition. The walk through the jungle was enjoyable, as we learned many facts about the plants, trees, and animals. We were lucky and got to see several howler monkeys! Skip the tubing and take this kayaking tour!

Abner our guide was awesome!

We do a lot of adventure type excursions and this one of the best. Our guide, Abner, did an amazing job and entertained us on the bus ride to cave river with history and trivia of Belize. We asked to go further into the cave and he said sure, whatever you all want to do! A very good traditional lunch of rice, beans with a relish and BBQ chicken at the end of the day.
Wonderful experience

This tour is not offered by the cruise lines as availability is limited. Therefore, we booked this as an independent excursion. There is another tour very similar to this one in which you basically float through the caves using innertubes. Everyone is connected and a guide pulls you along. I wanted more of a challenge, a workout and the opportunity to cover more caves so we opted for the kayaks.
Abner met us outside the entrance of the cruise ship terminal area holding a VIV sign. From there, we boarded a three row passenger van and headed to the site. From there we were given a life preserver, a hard had with light and our kayak oars. My husband felt his water shoes would not provide adequate support so he opted to rent a pair of crocs from a vendor at the site. In retrospect, I should have done the same. While my water shoes were fine for the hike on the path through the jungle, they did not provide enough support while walking through the river and its rock lined bottom. My recommendation to everyone would be to wear shoes that offer more support than water shoes.
In total we forded the river three times before we arrived to our launch location. I am one that likes adventure and history so for me, this was a very unique experience and one that I could learn more about the Mayan culture while in the location they occupied.
The day of our tour, Abner announced the water lever in the river was 'perfect' for kayaking. There was a current in the river so we had to paddle to maneuver around rocks and navigate a few white water rapids. Abner said that at any point in the river, the water lever was never over our heads and we could stand up. Also, he said there were no snakes, alligators, etc. The water was cool and very clear. We paddled through several caves and saw many beautiful things. During one transition from a cave to an open air area, I could not help but thinking "Welcome to Jurassic Park."
In conclusion, I would have to say this was the most unique excursion I have ever experienced. If you like a bit of adventure, the outdoors and perhaps some Mayan history, I would not hesitate whatsoever to book this tour.

The experience really was quite good for our adventurous side. You do have to walk across the river multiple times to get to your location, but thankfully they have the kayaks already at the point you get to start with them.
LUNCH WAS NOT INCLUDED! NOT MENTIONED, NOT OFFERED, NO WHERE TO BE HAD. We were only dropped back off at the port with only 10 minutes to get through customs and to our shuttle boat, so there was not even a chance to grab local food in the port.

The guides were terrific; very knowledgeable and helpful. The kayak trip gave us access to more caves than the tubes and for us was more fun. Lots of things to see.

What a great experience and so very beautiful!! Jeremy and Abner were great tour guides and made this such an enjoyable experience!! They were very helpful with the kayaks and making sure we were all safe and kayaking correctly. They offered to let us buy food before we left to eat on the road, and the food was great! They were very informative about the caves and the area we were in and answered any and all questions that we had! I loved this excursion and would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone! The caves were beautiful and we were even able to get out at some point and enjoy the water and take more pictures!! I am so thankful for these guys and the tour!! Definitely would recommend this to everyone!!
