14473 Potsdam, Germany
Start your trip outside Berlin’s Hackescher Markt Station. Join up with your guide and take a 15-mile (24km) train journey outside the city center to Potsdam, once the home to German royalty.

Stop by the palace of Cecilienhof, the site of the famous 1945 conference between the United States, Soviet Union, and the United Kingdom, where Truman, Churchill, and Stalin would seal Germany and Europe’s fate for the 20th Century, laying the groundwork for the Cold War. Continue to King Frederick William II’s Marble Palace, with its recreated Greek temple and scenic lakeside setting. From there, make your way through the 18th-century Nauener Gate and into Potsdam’s quaint Dutch quarter.

Break for lunch at your choice of several cafes in Potsdam’s town center. Stop off for a German beer or try some traditional coffee and cake. Once you’ve refueled, make your way through Potsdam’s own Brandenburg Gate (built before Berlin’s) to a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Frederick the Great’s Sanssouci Palace and Gardens.

Your walking tour finishes next to the Sanssouci Palace. Your guide then takes you on public transportation back to Berlin or, if you prefer, you can stay in Potsdam on your own to enjoy more of the gardens, visit the inside of one of the palaces, or even stay for dinner.

Perfect Day trip!

We take many tours and this was such a great one! Guide was with us from 9:30-3:30pm and since we chose to stay behind he even told us how to get back. I forget his name but he was born in Germany but raised in Long Island. He entertained both my teen and my 70 yr old mom with all of his knowledge. Totally recommend!!!

I took this tour without really knowing what to expect as it was my first day in Berlin, travelling on my own. Our guide for the day, Gregor, met us in Berlin and explained that we would be travelling to another town, and so the journey started! We went back in time to relive the life of Frederick the Great, we visited marvellous sights such as the Cecilienhof Palace, where the Potsdam conference was held deciding the future of Germany after World War Ist, and the magnificent Sanssoucis palace, which translated from French means the "No-worries Palace". We were even given the chance to listen to a Ramstein song to get the full experience of German Romanticism. It was a truly memorable experience with a really knowledgeable and engaging guide. Would 100 % recommend.

The trip required you to buy your own train ticket, but the guide helped you. The guide was very knowledgeable and took us to very interesting sites. It involved a considerable amount of walking. There was a break for lunch, but we barely had time to get our food and eat. Perhaps we could have used an additional half hour?

I would have preferred a less rushed visit with more free time to explore the city of Potsdam. Everything felt very rushed.

This was a good tour. Our guide Tobi kept the group's attention with a great knowledge of the history of the area and bits of humor to keep us entertained. The area was beautiful..a nice change from graffiti-filled Berlin.
