Mattia was the best tour guide!
Pamela_D
, Jun 2022
Mattia was great. Learned a lot of history of Bologna and history of food in the area. He walked us between courses so we’d have enough room for the delicious food he provided. I especially like each of the out of the way places he selected to take us. No tourists… just really great food… all within walking distance. Great tour!!!

Mattia is an excellent tour guide. The tour never felt too long or too short. He is very patient and answers all different types of questions. He explains the history of the food in Bologna in a very digestible way!

Riccardo was an absolute gem. Superbly knowledgeable, excited and enthusiastic he made the tour. Food, history and great information across a wide range of topics. Post the tour I feel like I don’t even need a balsamic or Parmesan trip as he already covered them off in such detail! We did a ton of food tours across Europe and this was the highlight. Thank you!!

Wonderful tour with tasting and history. Riccardo was our fantastic host. In about 5 hours he showed us some of the most important touristic spots of Bologna as well as took us to many different places where we could taste the wonders of the regional gastronomy - from coffee to mortadela to tortellini to gelatto. A must do experience. We definetely recommend! Bravo Riccardo!!!!

Mattia was a great tour guide! He was knowledgeable, funny, and great to talk to. The places we stopped at were authentic and the food was very good at each one. I especially loved the salumeria we went to. I also liked that he included information about the city’s history and architecture, it wasn’t just a food tour (though I’m not sure what’s more important than food!)

Awesome guide, awesome value!

Really a great tour! The tour guide owns his company and this is all he does so you don’t get farmed off to a first time tour guide. He has eight years of experience doing the tour and has great connections with local purveyors and restaurants. We bag an with coffee and croissants at a cute coffee shot that roasts their own beans. Next was a stop to watch pasta being made and a short tour of the historic area. Then we had a charcuterie and cheese tasting with a tasting of balsamic vinegars in front of an awesome salumeria. We made our way to a restaurant where we tasted three typical bolognese pastas. Then a stop for a typical appetizer and finally some amazing gelato. It’s all included in the price and there is plentiful wine with the tasting and lunch. Awesome value and awesome experience! He even sends out recommendations after the tour. The best part is it’s limited to eight people per tour! We loved it!

Absolutely wonderful - the tour guide owns this business and it shows that it’s his passion and truely enjoys personally hosting every tour himself as he grew up in the area. He was incredibly entertaining and knowledgeable about sights and history in Bologna and the food the region is known for. It was a great mix of food with breaks of walking around the city and hearing it’s stories and history. A great thing about this tour is it’s always 8 people or less so it’s an intimate tour which makes it easy to ask questions about anything and everything. It was outstanding that the guide was so knowledgeable and friendly - and takes you to truely great Family run restaurants and shops. We did the morning tour (10am-2pm) which started out food wise with espresso and cappuccino with pastries, followed by a spread of all the meats you could imagine…mortadella, prosciutto, culatello, parmigiano reggiano, and salami (and wine), a balsamic vinegar tasting, watching pasta making, 3 popular types of pasta (with more wine), a warm cheese and bread snack that was amazing, and of course gelato (the really amazing gelato that’s stored in metal containers and made in house instead of those gross tourist trap mounds of artificially colored and flavored gelato). Would hands down recommend to everyone coming to Bologna.

The guide does an excellent job speaking to the food, traditions, and history of Bologna on this tour. The food is excellent and the small setting perfect for an authentic, local view into the offerings of this food capital.

Educational tour, lovely pace. Max number of 8 in group although we were only 4 on that day. Lovely tastings en route of coffee, cake, cheese, meat, vinegar, wine, tortellini and delicious lunch of special soup, lasagna and tagliatelle ragu. Mattias did us proud. Thank you.
