Ends after the lunch in Bordovino's Apartment

Begin your 4-hour gourmet exploration of Bordeaux by meeting your guide near Place des Quinconces in the city center. This food tour ambles through Bordeaux and a very leisurely pace, giving you time to marvel at the historic beauty of the city's architecture. Listen as your professional foodie guide offers insight into Bordeaux's culinary history as you walk.

Visit a favorite local bakery, with inviting scents of freshly-baked baguettes surrounding you as you meet the baker and sample some handmade treats.

Next, visit one of the most famous chocolatiers in the city to meet the owner. Generations have kept the shop's recipes secret, and though you may never be able to duplicate what you taste you'll certainly enjoy the samples. Unique flavor components include green tea, olive and ginger.

Follow your guide to a cheese shop to learn about the cheese-making traditions that make French cheese so world-famous while you sample cheeses from different parts of the country, including Roquefort, Brie and Comté.

After all this sampling, finish your tour with a visit to a typical apartment for a buffet-style lunch. Take your pick from the generous array of food offerings, including many of the items you sampled earlier in the tour, accompanied by some excellent Bordeaux wine. Conclude your lunch with a traditional Bordeaux cake called a canelé. The tour ends after lunch.

Quentin, our guide, was excellent!!! He was very knowledgeable about Bordeaux history as well as humorous and entertaining. The food and wine provided were classically good. We started our tour with Deborah in the rain, but her sunny disposition made us all glad to be there. She provided lots of information as we walked around charming Bordeaux. We stopped first for pastries and coffee, and everyone picked out something for dessert later. Our next stop was at a very famous chocolate shop which exceeded my expectations. We then tasted fabulous local cheeses, one named a “best of the year”. Again, we picked out some for later. We then went for a lovely lunch with wine, supplemented by our favorite cheeses and sweets. We didn’t feel any remorse, as we had walked it off in advance! A wonderful way to spend a few hours in this beautiful place!

We did this tour, visited 3 places. They were lovely. Wish we could have visited some more. It is an expensive tour for what you get.
A fantastic Bordeauz tour

Our tour guide Crystal was really wonderful. She was able to show us highlights and historical parts of the city. She also shared her passion and knowledge for the culinary offerings of Bordeaux. She was knowledgeable and enthusiastic and was able to answer all of our questions. We ALL recommend this trip and recommned Crystal as a guide.

I think that going to the chocolate shop was my favorite stop, we saw how the candies are made, sampled chocolates from around the world and tried some of the chocolate candies as well. It was fascinating to learn how chocolate candies are made from Cocoa bean to candy. We learned a lot about the history of the city and the changes in the last 20 or 30 years. At the apartment we had a fun lunch of Charcuterie, Quiche Lorraine, a salad, and wine. This is a good way to get acquainted with the area especially if you are staying in the Saint Michel or Chartrons areas. Sorry, I don't have photo's at this time, if I am able to edit this review later I will post some, but I may have only taken them at the chocolate shop...

Very nice tour. The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Bordeaux and we had a lot of time at each stop. Sampled pastries, cheeses, and had a great tour of a chocolate shop that dates back to the 1800's. The tour ended with lunch at the Viator dining room. It was very nice, plenty of food and wine and samples picked up on the walking tour. It was also nice to have the time to visit more with the other couple on the tour.

This one was great. We got a tour of the city and went to the best bakery where we had coffee and pastries that were delicious. Then we went to the chocolate factory and learned a lot about making chocolate and tasted a lot of them. The last one was the cheese store. We had 3 very good chesses. After all that we went for lunch. We had a very good quiche and lots of wine. We ended up buying some wine to ship home. The whole experience was fantastic.

Our guide was very friendly as well as knowledgeable about his hometown. Of course we saw the important buildings and monuments but our visit to a special bakery where we had their bread and some coffee was a pleasant break in the walk. We also stopped at a cheese shop for a tasting. The highlight was our stop at the chocolate shop where everything was a work of art. Upstairs we saw the professionals at work and tasted different varieties of chocolate. The tour ended with a nice lunch with wine, naturally.

So well organized. Great tour guide. The chocolate factory tour was far better than the one included in our cruise excursion version. More to view, sample, and be told about the whole process not just a visit to a shop for mere purchases. Left wonderful memories.
