Meet a driver at your hotel at 4am for transfer to the airport, where you’ll catch a short, domestic flight to Luxor International Airport. A tour guide will greet you upon arrival at the airport, then go over the day’s itinerary on your way to the first stop of the day, the Necropolis of Thebes.

Cross the Nile River into the Valley of Kings, then visit a series of tombs and temples, including the Temple of Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. Learn about ancient Egypt’s legendary female pharaoh at the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, then pause for lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Head back to the east bank of the Nile River to see the Luxor Temple and the Temple of Karnak. After a guided tour of Luxor Temple, hop a bus or carriage to Karnak, where you’ll enter the temple complex by walking a long line of fierce-looking sphinxes.

You’ll see a series of temples dating to different reigns, from the 134 columns of the Hypostyle Hall to the Temple of Amon, the Granite Scarabeus of Amenophis III, and the Sacred Lake. Following your time at the Temple of Karnak, travel to the Luxor International Airport to board a flight back to Cairo, where a driver will meet you for the return trip to your hotel.

Poor Experience

First let me start with the positive aspects of this tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and the driver was right on time. Now let me tell you the not so favorable aspects of this trip. This was an extremely long day with lots of wasted time and many added expenses that weren’t disclosed. The tour was poorly planned out. First of all the tour includes extra stops at local shops where you are pretty much forced to buy something. I felt harassed and taken advantage of the whole time. When I got to the airport the security office inspected one of the Onyx items I bought from the local Alabasas shop and informed me that it was fake, took a picture of my passport and said he needed to report it. We also stopped at a perfume shop. I informed the tour guide that I had a sensitivity to fragrance and really wanted to skip it. Once again I felt forced to go in, buy something and had a headache the rest of the day because of all the scents that were tested on me. Another poorly planned aspect of this tour was lunch was at 11am. There was no snacks as advertised and the airport had nothing to buy except for potato chips. You can imagine how hungry you feel by midnight. Also, be aware that every site you enter you have trouble enjoying because there will be a man following you closely begging you for money. They are relentless and it’s really uncomfortable. So after all these bad experiences the tour was going to finish 6 hours early. The tour said I had two options, I could go to the airport early and wait 6 hours or she could ask the tour company to add items to the tour for a fee. I believe it was all a part of the plan to haggle more money out of me. I ended up spending an additional $60 and still finished 4 hours early. Then I had to sit outside the airport and wait. Also, I wasn’t informed that it was not a direct flight so we had to make a stop in Aswan which was really inconvenient. The 45 minute flight turned into a 3 hour flight. I did not end up getting back to my hotel until after midnight. The actual advertised tour was only about 4-5 hours and the other 13 hours was wasted time. I was not happy with the experience and would not recommend this tour or company.

Long day but definitely worth it

This was an amazing experience. Our guide, Ahmed was awesome and very knowledgeable about all the sights. He would tour us casually around teaching the history and myths, of each area, show us the more impressive murals and attractions and then give us free time to take pictures and explore on our own. He even made time to show us some local workshops since he was from the area! We never felt rushed or uncomfortable thanks to Ahmed and couldn’t have been happier to spend the day in Luxor with him and also our driver Khalil. Unforgettable experience. Thank you!

This was an excellent tour- well worth the money. It's a long day, but having a guide like Shimaa made it go so fast! We were very lucky to have Shimaa as our guide- she made us feel welcome, encouraged our silly pictures, and made accommodations for us throughout the day. The Valley of the Kings was breathtaking, and Shimaa was very knowledgeable and answered our all of our questions. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this tour!!!

Amazing tour. Can not recommend it enough. The tour company was excellent. Our Guide, Shaima, was the best tour guide we've had anywhere. She was extremely informative. Her passion for Egyptian culture and history was contagious. The sites were unbelievable. The Temples of Karnak, the Luxor temple, the valley of the Kings, and specially, the Temple of Hatshepsut. Luxor is also a beautiful oasis in the middle of the desert. This tour turned out to be the highlight of our trip to Egypt.

My wife and I recently went to Egypt. The second tour was in Luxor. We were met at the airport by our guide for the day, Shima. In Luxor, we visited The Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, Karnak and a local artisan shop. The tour was fantastic. Our guide, Shima, was a pleasure to be with and she certainly knew her history. She made the past come alive for us. The tour was lengthy due to flights to and from Cairo. But Emo Tours really delivered . We highly recommend this tour and this guide. Thank you Shima and Emo!
