No show, No apology

No Show! My family and I were scheduled for hotel pickup at 7:50 AM. At 8 AM we and Viator made several attempts to contact the tour company through emails, texts, and about 10-15 calls, no answer or response from Tour Balloon Chichen Itza. Unbelievable! We were extremely disappointed that our tour guide did not show up because we were flying back home the following day. At 2:16 I received a video text from Tour Balloon Chichen Itza of their driver at a hotel in Downtown Mexico, when we were staying in Playa del Carmen. Unbelievable!! No apology for responding 6 hrs later, just a video to show that they went to the wrong location. I'm extremely confused as to why we were not contacted and where they were when we called at 8 AM. This company lacks the basic knowledge of customer service and is managed by clowns. Their representative Anna Vega was extremely argumentative and could careless that my family and I missed the tour. Horrible service, do yourself a favor and avoid this company.

Dear customer, We are very punctual when informing our customers with fair anticipation that we will deny access to our transportation to customers with any kind of INTOXICATION SIGNS. You were rude and disrespectful to our customer service manager who has a clean record and her work is positively recognized by most of our clients. Saying words like "My a*s", "You’re full of s**t!!", "Now, have a nice life, & have a glass of bleach!". With all due respect, we would never put the integrity of our other customers on board at risk by accepting access from a potentially aggressive person. We kindly offered to change your departure date, and you turned us down. We are very sorry that things have happened in this way. Sincerely

Good experience - expect to spend more in tips!

Chichen Itza is a great place and has an interesting history associated with it. With this trip we got to learn a lot about Mayan culture, mayan people and a great civilization that dates centuries back! Chichen Itza is a holy place for Mayans and it truly is an architectural wonder. There is more to chichen itza then just the temple, they also have some other small structures on the premise with a story behind each structure. It is definitely a must visit place if you’re around. Now talking about the experience with our tour operators. It was good, they came to pick us up at our hotel on time in a good clean bus that also had a small bathroom which was clean as well! After they pick you up l, expect multiple stops and stop halts at few places from where they pick people up. After the bus was filled, we were headed towards the location and our tour guide (english) started explaining Mayan culture - it really was super interesting. He must have spoken for like 20 minutes or so and then the spanish tour guide started her introduction. We assumed it would be around the same time (20-30 minutes or so) but no! She kept speaking on the mic until we arrived at our first stop for lunch! That was one and half hours or more of talking (no breaks) Since it was an early morning trip, we thought we’d catch up on our sleep in the bus but we could not. Here for the lunch break, beware of the Mayan birth certificate they try to sell you. It is $60 usd and yes they will sell it hard! Then there’s this cute store with all the souvenirs there but I suggest buying those from the street vendors at Chichen Itza since they sell it for much cheaper. Stuff at this store would be $10 while the same thing will be for $1 at Chichen Itza street vendors. (The tour guide will tell you not to buy stuff from the street vendors but as long as you buy in cash you’re good. Why pay 10x more for the same stuff! 🤷‍♀️) The lunch was good, we are vegetarians and we did get decent options for us. So we were really happy. The next stop was chichen itza (already said it was great), then there was cenote; it is beautiful and a must if you’re in Cancun! The last stop was Valladolid. It is a beautiful little town, very colorful and we were just given 20 minutes here. A very cute place. One turn off for us was everyone would push you into tipping them, and you would almost feel guilty if you didn’t tip! I used bathroom at the lunch place and there was a tip basket, before I used the bathroom the lady showed me to the tip basket said use bathroom for free but put tips here. Then showed me to the bathroom and when I was washing my hands she stood there asking me to put a tip over and over. Now i did not carry my wallet to the bathroom and I ran to take my wallet and put in a tip. (I felt so pushed to tip here; i felt as if i was using a paid service for free.) Next was during our lunch. The dancers performed well and we definitely wanted to tip them, however it is just unacceptable when they come stand next to you with tip basket while you are eating!! Then, again at lunch - it is a buffet lunch and we have to serve our own plates. The staff will get us seated but that’s it! Everything else we do ourselves, even then after we finished lunch one guy came in asking for tips!!! Then during the exit, there were 3-4 dressed people were standing there if we wanted to click a photo with them, and yes you guessed it right - tip them first then click a photo! Our guide at Chichen Itza was great, and yes did deserve a tip but he would collect his tip like a payment! Would not move until you give him something! So be ready with lot of change so you can tip at all these places or you’ll just have to spend more like us. Because we didn’t have change we ended up giving like more than 300-400 pesos in total as tips!

Dear Customer, "Tipping is a culture" it depends which country you visit that's exactly how your tips would be taken. Here in Mexico and even more in the Maya zone of Yucatan, most of the people who collaborate with us like folkloric dancers, waiters, hostesses, handicraft-men and others, THEY ARE PEOPLE WHO LIVE NEAR, IN SMALL VILLAGES OR EVEN IN SMALL PALMTREE HOUSES IN THE JUNGLE, the TIPS you're complaining about, ARE COMPLETELY OPTIONAL and if they ask for it, please have in mind that THEY USE THIS EXTRA INCOME TO SUPPORT THEIR FAMILIES. Mayan villagers are very humble people, no one with bad intentions. It jumps to my attention that you took our most affordable package, the one which doesn't include DRINKS. However you brought your own water and the same workers that you don't want to tip ALLOWED YOU TO ENTER YOUR BOTTLED WATER without any issues. We always inform our customers, (in the same email we send you with your pickup information) that EXTRAS LIKE "TIPS" ARE COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. We do have very affordable prices, it's not so fair when you complain for 400 pesos (of optional tips) when a dish of food in your hotel is even more expensive. If you really feel that our staff doesn't deserve any tips. JUST DO NOT DO IT. But to complain about it?... I HONESTLY RESPECT YOUR OPINION and appreciate your feedback. Thanks for your collaboration. *Please do not take my capitals as yelling, I used them to remark my phrases. Kind regards

Great time for a great price

We had a great time on this tour. Everything was included in the price and even picked us up at our hotel in Playa Del Carmen. Our tour guide for the day was very friendly and knowledgeable, speaking English and Spanish. He could also speak Mayan. It is a very long tour, leaving at 7:30 and returning at 9pm. We were at Chichen Itza for 2 hours, which is plenty of time, especially in the heat. The cenote is very nice and refreshing. The city of Valladolid would have been fun to explore, but only had 20 minutes. If you are on a budget, I would highly recommend. Most people on the tour were in their 20’s.

Wonderful trip

The trip for us was 15 hrs, but well worth it. Our tour guide, Juan Carlos, was amazing. He switched back and forth between English, and Spanish, to accommodate all of us. The Buffet had good food, and Valladolid was just OK, the best part was the Cenote! Chichen Itza was very hot, so the Cenote was so fantastic. Watch out for all the vendors at Chichen, they are relentless!!j

Javier and Hector were amazing, and we learned so much culture and history during this tour. They made the bus ride entertaining and informative. I highly recommend. Chitzen Itza was on my bucket list and it was worth getting up early for. Great day.
