Your tour begins with an early morning departure. Arriving at Chichen Itza, join your specialized guide for an in-depth tour of the site, and enjoy the tranquility of your early-morning visit before the crowds arrive. Throughout the trip, your archaeological guide’s commentary provides essential background to the well-preserved site of Chichen Itza. Learn how this large pre-Colombian city played an important role in Mayan civilization from around A.D. 600 to 1200, and remained a center of worship and pilgrimage until the arrival of the Spanish. Even today, it is still considered a sacred site by the Yucatán peninsula’s Maya population. Like many of ancient Mexico’s cities, the site was abandoned, and its ruins were hidden by jungle. Hear how the site was discovered and unearthed by archaeologists, gaining UNESCO protection and considered today one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Your guide will explain the philosophy, cosmology and mythology behind this ancient site, such as the meaning of the stone carvings, pyramids, platforms, ball courts and staircases. Visit the Observatory, Temple of the Jaguars, Temple of the Warriors and of course the famous El Castillo, also known as the Temple of Kukulkan.  Return around 3:00 p.m. With this Viator Exclusive, your early morning trip to Chichen Itza helps you to beat the crowds so you can enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at your own leisure!

Tour was very informative and enlightening. Frank did a wonderful job providing the history of the Mayans and keeping the group on track. The buffet was awesome and cenote, refreshing even though a bit crowded. Good experience overall.

The guide was very professional. He knew everything that I wanted to know about Chichen Itza. It’s a beautiful trip. I’m so glad I went with a guide rather than on my own. The cenote was refreshing at the end.

One of the best tours in Mexico so far!!!

Excellent tour! The tour guide Tony is very knowledgeable and very articulate! Very detail oriented tour guide. Jesus, the driver is very nice too & very smooth driver. The Chichen Itza tour guide Russel is excellent as well! He’s calm, patient & very knowledgeable! Valladolid City is quiet. Able to see Mayans there in their traditional garments. Chichen Itza is magnificent! Lunch buffet was great! Able to drink coconut juice. Didn’t have a chance for Tequila tasting due to long line but the last part is awesome…. Able to swim at the Chichen Itza’s sacred Cenote! Amazing!!! Of course, they are particular on safety and sanitation. One of the best tours we ever had!

Best tour of Chichen Itza

This was the best tour ever!!!! From the bus pick up and drive across to Valledolid every aspect of the tour was well-coordinated and planned out. I would have loved to be able to stop and shop at Valledolid but that wasn't doable due to COVID restrictions. The bus guide Vincente Padilla and guide at Chichen Itza Rodrigo was incredibly knowledgeable of his culture and Chichen Itza, he was amazing!!! He also knew of the "money shots" as he amicably took great pics of our group. The Cenote was impressive BUT too crowded for my liking and there was no supervision of people moving up and down the slippery and steep steps to the Cenote.

Wouldn’t recommend based on bus ride

The guide for the Chichen Itza was amazing, I believe his name was Arturo from Merida. He was so knowledgeable and interesting and his English was perfect. We did not enjoy the bus ride. The guide talked nonstop for over 2 hours and we just wanted to sleep. Also, we stopped for lunch and did not get our alcoholic beverage as advertised (it said it was included with the deluxe package). Kind of wondered if the guide on the bus had a deal going with where stopped for food.

Great tour, busy day!! Glad we had the tour guides as there aren’t any placards or information about Chichen Itzen at the different sites. Lunch was delicious, souvenirs a bit expensive though. Cenote was insanely crowded and noisy. Wasn’t aware you had to pay for the use of a life jacket and everyone has to wear one. Don’t forget sunscreen and a hat and bring LOTS of water. The tour says they provide you with one bottle but we didn’t get any so I’m glad we brought what we did. Frank and Vicente were our guides and were awesome!! Very informative and fun. Bus was clean and comfortable.

AMAZING.

WOW! What an amazing experience. Our tour guide was Daniel and he was great. The bus driver was Sergie and he was amazing. First the amazing things: -We learned SO much from the guide at the pyramids. The history is rich and amazing. We're going home to learn more. -The cenote was out of this world. The Hacienda was beautiful and it all ran smoothly. Use lockers- it's like a sauna and everything you bring down comes back up damp. You have to rinse off before getting in the cenote and the water is cold so just be ready! -The lunch was AMAZING and so much more than we expected. There were the most delicious pulled pork tacos (TRY THEM) and chicken tacos, fresh veggies and rice and sauce and watermelon. You could get more than one plate. Don't be scared of the long line- it goes fast and is 100% worth the wait... The parts I wish I had known: -The drive there is LONG. I think it was over 3 hours for us. The tour bus was clean, had a bathroom and was beautiful and the air was cold. It's just a 3 hour ride I thought was only 1 1/2. 100% worth it though. -We didn't get any umbrellas so some of us who thought we'd use that rather than hats were really hot. IT's HOT out in the open there. Other than that the tour was better than our expectations, the tour guide was great and the experiences were top notch.

The sunrise tour does not exist. Tour operator contacted one day prior to tour to tell us they dont have permit. Talk about a major disappointment. I had already pumped up the whole group on an experience that did not exist and we all had to make last minute plans to do something else instead. ZERO STARS!
