What a day! If you’re looking to challenge yourself and get some breathtaking moments (this includes both the hike and the view), then this is the tour for you! The gym and I have not quite worked out our differences so I did find this a little challenging...but in the days later, my thighs have never looked better!! We conquered the Gros Piton on Sunday 28th July. It was a 2hr and some minutes journey up and the same down. Our tour guides Tarika and Amos were very helpful and patient with us as we (mainly me) took breaks. Going up you get to see various views of the island at different points. Aldus (I may be spelling this wrong sorry 🤦🏾‍♀️) our driver was lovely. He has a lot of knowledge of the different areas of St Lucia and so on our drive he shared a lot of interesting facts about St Lucia and it's history, wildlife etc. He also introduced us to the famour Piton lager! There was a little issue with our tour (it was meant to be private but accidentally double booked) and we had to join with another couple but we were treated to some amazing local lunch in the area of Anse Le Raye once we had made it back down! All in all, great experience which I highly recommend!! Make sure to bring comfortable shoes and water! Oooh and your camera! Maybe even some snacks to keep your energy up

Invigorating hike

The driver that picked us up was friendly and provided a couple of large water bottles for the hike. Cost of admission to the hike by the Park Service was $50 US per person for us, and thankfully they accepted major credit cards (I couldn't find the price elsewhere on the internet). The hike was definitely a climb and the humidity can hit you hard. Drinking lots of water is key, along with having a snack for the top. The views are breathtaking. You'll be accompanied by a Park guide the whole way who will lead you to stops along the way. After the hike there are several shops with souvenirs and ice cream. A ride back was provided back to our hotel, as well.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment for us. It is truly appreciated. The hike is definetely not for the faint of heart but absolutely worth it in the end. Good vibes!

GUARANTEED GREAT TIME!!

GUARANTEED GREAT TIME! Major credit is due to Danney “DannyBoy!” who is easily the best tour guide, St. Lucia historian, comedian, and friend that you could ever want for your time on the island. Things started very smoothly in talking to Danney twice the day before to confirm our tour and pickup location. Arriving precisely at 6:30am, DannyBoy was ready to go and full of energy for our drive from the north end of the island to the south where the Pitons are. We learned more about St. Lucia in our one hour drive than we did during our entire rest of the trip thanks to DannyBoy. As for the actual climb up Gros Piton, we had a wonderful hike. Four climbers plus a guide went up together. The path is well shaded by foliage and there are steps/handrails most of the way to aid in climbing/hiking. The climb is certainly easiest if in good physical shape, but likely doable for most people. The pace really determines the difficulty, and they will adjust to best meet the needs of the group. The views at the rest stops along the way are AMAZING! Fingers crossed that it isn’t cloudy when you get to the top for you, although even with clouds, the views did not disappoint. After the climb, DannyBoy took us to the famous mud baths and waterfall, taking care of the entrance fees at both and offering to take pictures for and with us! Because DannyBoy works on his own, you are able to make stops along the way for pictures or sightseeing, or even stop at the local rum distillery! Perhaps the best evidence that we can give why you should choose to do this tour and choose DannyBoy is that we were having so much fun that we forgot to stop for our buffet lunch and didn’t even notice! Ultimately, climbing Gros Piton and spending the day with DannyBoy was the SINGLE BEST HIGHLIGHT of our entire trip to St. Lucia. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience on our honeymoon! ~Steven & Megan
