Great beach, could not without other random stops

I didn’t care for the first or last stop. Most people will only want to experience the pink sand beach and stay there. For the reasons of having random stops and the tour guide was lacking in providing engaging content, I’m giving is a 4 star review. The beach was well worth the drive and & spent on this.

The trip to Elafonissi was beautiful, as was the monastery on the way there and of course the beach itself. In details: 1) The bus ride in my opinion was quite boring, because there was not much info coming from the guide. I'd love to hear more about the island, story and whatever that's not complete silence. The views on the way were stunning though, so one also could just disappear in the beauty of the island's nature. 2) Stop at the monastery - we've had 20 minutes for exploring it by ourselves. I don't know if that's every Saturday or it's just my luck, but there was some kind of service happening and we couldn't get inside, so we just looked at the sea from the monastery's walls and checked out their museum. 3) the lagoon itself - beautiful, instagramable and not very deep which is perfect for families with children. 4) Winery - the winery tour was as basic as it can get. We were led through 3 rooms of the winery and got told about the process of winemaking. The amount of info was embarrassing - here is the press where we press grape, here are the barrels where we ferment juice, here are the barrels, where we age wine, thanks for attention. Then we were lead to wine tasting and this is where things got dangerous. You have around 15 types of wine, 2 types of Raki, 2 of olive oil and 1 of grape syrup and big bowls of bread. From here you grab a glass(es) and drink what you want and as much as you want. Unfortunately you don't get any information about wines, types of grapes used there, how to taste it, how to understand that it's a good wine and all the good stuff in what (in my opinion) a proper wine tasting session should have. Conclusion: good for those who don't care much about the information that they receive on tours and just want to get to the beach and drink (good) wine on the way back.

Great Trip!

Windy beach but otherwise great time! Perfect timing to arrive at the beach as we got our pick of the sun beds and umbrellas before it got too full. Would have appreciated more time at the winery to taste all the wines they provided. Felt a bit rush.

No covid protocol and no AC
KER
, Aug 2021
Trip was on time and okay value EXCEPT (1) there way absolutely no regard for covid protocol and (2) the bus had no AC other than where the driver was. Many guests never wore a mask during a 1.5h bus ride, the bus driver never wore a mask and the tour guide often did not have a mask on inside the bus. Considering the covid outbreak in Chania at the time this was unacceptable. Many people on the bus were coughing and certainly there was covid spread. Additionally it was 35C outside and there was no AC and no vents on the bus. It was unbearably hot. Trust me - it was awful. Pay a bit more for a company that acknowledges covid and offers AC so you aren’t dying on the bus.
