Dear Tom W, I am so sorry to hear that your recent City Unscripted experience was a disappointment. As soon as you got in touch with the team we started a thorough investigation to get a full picture of the booking. We take these things very seriously, and that’s why we asked for further feedback from your side and got in touch with the host. As my colleague explained to you in detail, we offer personalised city-experiences with local “hosts”. They are not licensed tour guides but rather people who live in the city and know all its hidden gems and best spots to get an insight into how the locals in the city live. Our hosts are not required to have extensive historical knowledge of the places you visit but rather to be able to show the city in an authentic way. However, they are required to be able to navigate their way around the city and have some plan for the experience. As our experiences are spontaneous and planned according to what the guests want to see and do in the city, the plan can be changed at any point. I appreciate your feedback, and the points you mentioned have been addressed by the wider team to make sure similar situations won’t happen again in the future. In order for us to sort out any potential problems, our hosts report to us after each experience to tell us how it went. As soon as we heard back from your host in Dublin, our Customer Happiness Manager got in touch with you to sort out any issues. After she received feedback from a few members of your party, we started a thorough investigation to get a full picture of the situation. As my colleague explained to you in detail, the City Unscripted concept is designed so that you feel you are wandering the city with a friend who lives there, who shows you their favourite places to eat and explore. Our hosts personalise each experience, yet they leave a little flexibility so that you can change course on the day if you feel like you want something a little different. This allows room for improvisation and sets a great base for experiencing the city authentically, as you would with a local friend. This specific experience offers a relaxed introduction to the pub-scene of the city and is a perfect way to enjoy a drink together with a local. With this being said, your host tried to contact you with a plan prior to the experience without receiving a reply. When they met you on the day, some of the members of your group had already visited the places our host had planned to take you to. After this the host tried their best to come up with other places they thought you might enjoy. I’m sorry if this seemed like there was no itinerary planned. After having reviewed the whole case, we could have connected you with a local who has more experience in managing bigger groups with more people like yours was. Again, I am truly sorry that your experience turned out the way it did. I hope the partial refund we provided helped to make up for the disappointment and you enjoyed the rest of stay in Dublin.
