We had a great tour to Waterford, mainly due to our wonderful guide Paddy! Everything that we expected we got, and then some. Would do it again anytime.

I was pleasantly surprised when we found out there were only six of us on the tour. John was our guide and he did a great job of explaining what would be happening as we went along. We felt safe and looked after. He went above and beyond the expected. All of us in our little group had become friends by the end of the tour.

Paddy was our guide and we didn't stop laughing from start to finish. He was very professional and made the whole trip a pleasure. Very knowledgeable and informative. We were made to feel very welcome and looked forward to more of the same with our other booked trip by Viator.

Waterford by Rail

Our tour guide, Paddy, made this already great tour delightful. This was our only rail tour but would do it again vs travel by bus on small, windy roads (though that was fun too). There is more to Waterford than glass and Paddy took us on the Viking history walk. We had plenty of time for lunch and the factory tour of Waterford crystal. Recommend this tour, especially if you enjoy a train ride.

The countryside of Ireland is so beautiful to see and the whole tour is well done. John was amazing and made sure the entire group had fun together. Seeing how crystal is made and the detailing was so awesome.

Our tour with Liam was one of the best tours we have ever been on. Not only was he incredibly well informed, he was very considerate of my husband who is somewhat disabled. Liam made sure there was a wheelchair for him so my husband could your the Waterford factory. We had a group of 6 who were strangers. Less than an hour into the tour, we were all chatting . This was because of Liam's knowledge and personality, I am sure.

Outstanding tour. Our tour guide Paddy was excellent. On the train ride he took time to sit with each group of tour participants and talked with us about what we were going to see, he also explained Ireland history and answered any questions we had. Very knowledgeable and pleasant tour guide. He recommended several pubs and restaurants to visit at each stop, including in Dublin.

Fun Day but too slow

I enjoyed this day trip and it was a great way to see Kilkenny - a beautiful old city and the Waterford factory in one day. However, the trip was a little different than advertised. I expected we would be taken to each city then left to explore on our own. This was not the case. Our tour guide, Paddy, had planned out almost every minute. Some of the tour was great, some not so much. In Kilkenny for example, we had a driving tour that was kind of dull, and our tour guide insisted we go inside a random Catholic church with little historical significance. I would have preferred to have more time to explore on my own. Also in Waterford, he insisted we all eat at the same restaurant, which was not very good. Again, I would have rather had time to have lunch on my own. Also, the trip took a bit longer than expected and we did not get back to Dublin until 8, which made for a very long day. The Waterford factory was a really great experience and I would highly recommend. However in general, you could take the train yourself from Dublin to these places and have the flexibility to explore on your own, which I would recommend over this tour.

The train ride was just beautiful through the rolling hills and farms . There were vibrant green fields of every shade. There were sheep, cows, horses and castles. The Kilkenny stop was magical. A smaller city than Dublin, had all the charm of what we anticipated an Ireland town. Waterford was also beautiful. The Waterford factory itself was a great experience. Our tour Guide, Paddy, was informative about all aspects of the tour and would point out historical items even on the train. After Waterford the train took a different route back to Dublin though the smaller towns . The train tour was well worth the money. Please be aware that there is still quite a bit of walking.
