Admire the patchwork of lush farmlands, forests, and lakes as you wind along the scenic country lanes and climb through the hills of Wicklow. Jump out to discover Glendalough, the picturesque ‘Valley of Two Lakes’, and follow your guide to the most stunning lookout points. Along the way, learn about Glendalough’s significance as an early Christian settlement and stop to explore the 6th-century monastic ruins, which rank among the oldest in Ireland.

Back on the bus, continue your journey along the dramatic mountain pass of Wicklow Gap, where you have a chance to hop out and take photos. Finally, arrive in Kilkenny, Ireland’s medieval capital, where you can take in the highlights on a guided walking tour. It was a great day trip. Our guide Brian was fantastic. He was fun, full of information and made a positive mood on the bus. The only negative side of the trip was that we were constantly waiting for passengers that were running late and Brian was even to nice and refused to leave anyone behind.

Get clear directions for paths at Glendalough!

Walking to the upper lake at Glendalough - there are no signs at a fork on the path - we took the left fork which went upwards, assuming it was correct for the “upper” lake - went 15 minutes out of our way before realizing it must be the wrong path- we still made it back in time to get a quick look at the lake, but that excursion didn’t leave any time for the visitor center.

Wow I’ve travelled to a lot of places but I think this was by far the most beautiful. Pat our tour guide has to be the sweetest, kindest, man Ever. He taught us so much and made us laugh too. I would do it all again just to see Pat lol… the coach was comfy and day was full of beautiful sights and tales of irelands history. The only thing I’d say is there just wasn’t enough time at the lakes. Great tour, best part of my trip
