You'd probably do better on your own.

Our tour guide was lackluster at best. In what he thought was a comedic manor Andy proceeded to give half facts and half made up stories. Instead of feeling that we had spent the day at Learning we spent the day analyzing whether things were correct and accurate. In additio, tree n the bus driver meandered off course several times stopping at irrelevant sites for photos rather than at historic landmarks. Additionally the tour itself was very boring. We spent more time on the bus than we did at sites. Because things close early in Edinburgh there were limited options, only worsened by Covid I’m sure. That left us with one or two options to eat for breakfast and lunch. Those places had very make simple items such as sausage rolls which were really plain bread and a sausage in between. It was disappointing all around I would recommend anyone save their money and adventure at their own risk. Finally come there is a mandate for all passengers to wear their mask throughout the day while on my the vehicle, the guide did not. And never explained if he were vaccinated or tested..

Hi and thanks for taking the time to review our Loch Ness & Highlands tour. Whilst we appreciate social media is a platform for reviews, both good and bad, I'm a bit surprised to see your comments. Not only is Andy a very experienced tour guide but it's worth noting the same tour (small group of 8 passengers) has already been well reviewed by other customers. Indeed one traveller stated that Andy was "engaging and informative". Having said that it's fair to say not everyone 'clicks' with their tour guide or shares the same sense of humour. More importantly the same customer also remarked "the bus was clean and safety rules shared/reinforced". All our guides are fully vaccinated and this information (in addition to other safety protocols) is prominently advertised both on our own website and also on Viator's website which is how you booked. There's no doubt it's a long day out to Loch Ness but we're obviously sorry to hear your expectations were not met. Take care and regards from Edinburgh.

The trip has exceeded my expectations, our guide, Kevin (I could not memorise his name's exact spelling in Gaelic) was sharing very interesting facts about Scotland also he had amazing knowledge of history what he was demonstrating throughout the whole trip. Long day, but plenty of stops, so don't worry about that. Most definitely recommended!!!

Not what we expected.

We booked the Highland day trip through Viator and they did not specify on the ticket which tour company we would be traveling with. Subsequently, at the meeting place I had to go to each tour operator to find out if we were in their group. Unfortunately our guide, Scott with Heartland a Scotland, was late and last bus to arrive. I picked the small group tour to limit exposure to Covid and the assurance they were taking precautions. All the passengers were required to wear a mask on the bus, but our tour guide did not and had his pulled down. At our first stop an hour into the trip, I had to ask him to please wear it properly while on the bus. Scott stated he could not because it causes his glasses to fog! Fortunately I had an anti-fog wipe that I gave him to coat his glasses. Much to his credit he did wear his mask the remaining 11 hours. I was astonished that the tour company had not made provision for drivers who wear glasses to see safely while wearing a mask. It was an interesting ride through the highlands but very few quick stops to see things. Scott was hard to understand and did not provide as much Scottish history as I had expected. I would recommend to a friend to skip a done day trip and take a two day trip to the Highlands to see things properly.

Hi Cheryl, thanks for your feedback. I can assure you that our fully vaccinated tour guides have been thoroughly debriefed and trained on safety procedures but as someone who also wears glasses it's fair to say fogging can be a very tricky issue to deal with, especially when driving a minicoach... However, there are other ways to deal with this problem (such as face shields for those who wear glasses) and I will discuss this option with Scott. Scott also received a 5 star review for the same tour but we understand and appreciate social media is a forum for constructive feedback so thanks for keeping us in the loop.

A wonderful trip with the highlights of the highlands

We had the wonderful Helen as our tour guide / driver, the fact she managed both things whilst keeping us entertained was incredible. She was extremely welcoming, attentive and full of wonderful, amusing stories that allowed us to see some of the beautiful highlights that the highlands have to offer. It’s a very short tour to see some beautiful sites, well worth doing especially if you are short on time to see everything.

Our tour guide Euan Alexander was brilliant, very informative with the commentary, minibus was very comfortable, large windows to take in the stunning views. Plenty of photographic & refreshment stops along the way. And he even got us the tickets for the cruise on Loch Ness. A fantastic day out and the weather was great.
