Ideal for foodies and wine aficionados, this small-group tour of one of Nova Scotia's pretty wine-centric destinations is led by a local guide. Pick-up is at your downtown Halifax hotel in the morning where you ride in a comfortable vehicle to Annapolis Valley to visit three wineries for touring and tasting.

First stop is Planters Ridge Winery in Port Williams with a bucolic country setting featuring a 150-year-old restored barn. Your tour here focuses on the winemaking process, from harvesting grapes to bottling wine.

One of the world's top 20 winery restaurants is your next stop for a 2-course gourmet lunch at Restaurant Le Caveau. There's time for shopping at the winery’s boutiques with your complimentary wine tote bag, a gift to take home.

Then head to the last winery to tour its facilities and enjoy a wine tasting before concluding your day at the whimsical Tangled Garden for more sampling, this time delicious chutneys, mustards, jams and jellies.

Your tour ends with a return trip to your Halifax hotel.

Even If You Have Taken Wine Tours In The Past...

Laila, our tour guide (she also owns the tour company), was an excellent guide, she was very knowledgeable about the areas we toured, as well as all aspects of the vineyard/wine making processes of the vineyards we visited. We have taken wine tours before, but this wine tour topped them all. Thanks Laila for a very interesting and informative tour :-)

Interesting and insightful tour with a knowledgeable and friendly guide

From the moment Lilah picked us up from our hotel in downtown Halifax it was apparent we were in safe hands. Her knowledge of both the history of wine-making in Nova Scotia and the individual vineyards made for an interesting and enjoyable day in her company. The local guides at all three of the wineries were excellent, with each giving a unique insight into their individual approaches. The tasting samples at each covered a range of styles and grapes (and were more than generous!) and the included lunch at Domaine de Grand Pre was a particular highlight. The final stop of the tour at the Tangled Garden was an excellent way of rounding out the day - the garden itself is a veritable wonderland, and the food samples on offer were all delicious. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore what the Annapolis valley has to offer.

Enjoyable and Informative Wine Tour

This is a fantastic tour if you not only love wine but also like to learn about it. This tour takes you to 4 very different and unique wineries that each explain what makes them unique. I have never been on a tour where I've had the opportunity to see the "behind the scenes" of the wine making process. The lunch was absolutely fantastic and I loved how small the group was to get to know the other people on the tour. This tour also informs you about the history of the wine industry in Nova Scotia and the history of the land in which the wineries are situated. Overall I had a really wonderful experience and it was well worth the price.

Had a wonderful time taking the Winery tour. Lila was our fantastic guide, picked us up at our hotel and took us to 4 different wineries with a stop on a hilltop overlooking the old Acadian dikes and finishing up with at a local merchant's home made jams and jellies. Lunch of Artic Char with needleheads was superb. A great time if you are into wines and wineries and well who isn't?

Wine, beautiful scenery and a fabulous tour guide!

Our day began at a reasonable hour with a nice drive up to the Annapolis Valley. We visited 3 wineries. Each one had a different vibe and uniqueness to their winery. Our lunch was held at the second winery which consisted of a main dish and dessert. It was delicious and featured Nova Scotia seafood (my meal choice!). We also ended our trip with a fabulous visit to a garden location that was stunning. They made jams, jellies, liquors and such with the herbs grown. We sampled their products as well after exploring the gardens. Our tour guide was very enthusiastic, knowledgable and passionate about the Nova Scotian Winery industry. I would highly recommend this to locals and tourists alike!

One of the reasons we enjoy traveling...

One of the reasons we enjoy traveling is the opportunity to meet new people and experience things that are part of others daily lives, if even for a moment. The day we had with Lila as our guide and the folks on this tour is a highlight in our travel memories. The small group aspect made it far more intimate in the exploration of a few of the 'off the beaten trail' places we were hoping for. Our expectations were exceeded! Lila is extremely knowledgeable on the history of the region as well as the offerings of the stops we made. The country-side is beautiful, the people were very friendly and accommodating, and the history is fascinating. The wines and foods we had the pleasure of trying were very well done. The wine region is very unique and they have made it their own. We highly recommend this for anyone for the all the reasons mentioned and the numerous other reasons time and space would limit. I cannot describe it in a way to do justice. Thank you Lila and the great people we met along the way!
