Treat your senses to a full day exploring Crete’s finest wines and olive oils. After morning pickup at your Heraklion hotel, ride in an air-conditioned minivan to the ancient wine-growing regions of Archanes and Peza. Stop at two different historic wineries, where you’ll have a chance to meet winemakers and learn about traditional production methods on a vineyard tour. After learning about the long history of Cretan wine, try some for yourself with a generous, private tasting featuring 15 different wines.

Next, slick your pallet with the silky texture of some of the world’s finest olive oils at a family-run domain, where Crete’s soil and climate combine to create the ideal growing conditions for the crop. Stroll through the olive groves and learn how the fruit is grown, harvested and pressed to create these exceptional oils.

For lunch, head to a local restaurant nestled among the vineyards for a delicious, 3-course meal of typical Cretan dishes prepared by a talented chef. Hand-picked wine pairings round out the feast for an unforgettable gourmet day.

Womderful Tour

Everything about the tour was excellent. Our guide Pierre picked us up at our hotel on time, and drove us out to one of the principal wine growing areas of the island. We visited two wineries and had a tour of the facilities and wonderful tastings at both. Then we went to a small villlage in the area and tasted specialty olive oils and other local products, and had a 4-course gormet lunch with paired wines for each course. Through the entire experiece Pierre provided his unique commentary on the history of wine making in the region and shared his perspectives as a chef about the Creten diet and healthful living. We got back to the hotel a little ahead of schedule, which was also appreciated because it allowed us to get in a swim in the warm and wonderful Aegean Sea. We were particularly interested in this tour because we were staying at a beach resort on the north coast and wanted to see some of the interior of the island and the countryside, which was very beautiful. The tour was also advertised as a small group experience, which we thought would be more personalized. That proved to be absolutely true. It was advertised for a maximum of 8 persons, and it turned out that there were only 4 guests total, which made the adventure that much better. Pierre was an excellent guide and provided an outstanding experience. Would highly recommend this for anybody interested in unique Creten wines and cuisine.

What an amazing day! This is a small personal tour, there was only us and one other couple on the trip along with Pierre who runs the tour with his wife. First stop is an olive farm which has given me a new appreciation for good olive oil, then onto the first wine farm - gorgeous views, delicious wines and good company who needs to speak the same language when drinking wine?. Lunch was at a small local restaurant with a mixture of small sharing plates for starters and desserts as well as mouth watering lamb for mains. Of course more excellent wine to accompany. The afternoon is then spent having a snooze while being driven to the next wine farm for more tasting. We ended up buying loads of local produce under no pressure whatsoever which I can't wait to sample while remembering one of the best trips of a holiday ever!
