Itinerary
Stop At:
Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau
Visit the former Nazi concentration camps at Auschwitz and Birkenau on this 7-hour trip from Krakow. By June 1940, Jews and over 700 political criminals had been sent to Auschwitz and the atrocities had begun. Birkenau was built by Auschwitz prisoners and by October 1941 was used as an extermination camp. Between 1 and 1.5 million were killed, and approximately 90 percent of those killed were Jews. Before Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated in January 1945, the SS attempted to blow up the camp and destroy the documentation. They were only partially successful, and the Polish government decided to restore the site as a memorial to the victims. Tour guide with 20+ years experience had little to say

Our tour guide might have been having a bad day but she was of very little help and offered practically no information or annecdotes. There was so much potential while walking for hours to tell a tremendous amount of information but she, instead, repeated walking directions multiple times with long pauses of silence in between. She was also very heavily one-sided in her description by minimizing the Jewish autrocities and speaking nearly entirely about the Polish impact both during and after the war. Again...I hope she was simply having a bad day. She claimed to have been a guide for 20+ years...so, I hope she was more knowledgable than what she shared.

A very moving day - good guides with lots of information and at a good pace. The only criticism is about the poor selection of food at the car park in Birkenau which is not the fault of viator!

Tour was enlightening and unimaginable

We went for a tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau the pick up point and service was excellent from start to finish The company Krakow Direct were excellent throughout our Tour arrived at the stated time from the meeting point the driver very obliging very good manners The Tour of the Camps was so sad and would recommend taking a bouquet of flowers as we did to place at the Death Wall . We went as a family of 6 including 2 young boys aged 9/11 years and they were intrigued by what they saw and they think everyone including School Trips should be made to see the reality of the way things were and how these poor people suffered just to make people grateful for what they have now and lucky at the way things are in their lives now. The Tour Guide was excellent about everything she was very good. We would recommend this trip highly this was our 2nd trip and we are still dumfounded at the reality of it all, you get the real information when you see it in front of you as the films do not give you the true unimaginable events that took place you need to visit do not forget your flowers in memory of those poor people

Excellent tour, well organised, punctual and efficient. Would have liked a bit more time at both sites as there is so much to take in but gained a lot of insight to what happened in the camps, guide was very good. Driver was very pleasant and helpful as well.

Time of pickup was altered from 8.45 to 10.15 which I thought was better as less rushed in morning Let us know day before. Pick up arrived on time Driver was good informative etc and the mini bus was comfortable etc eventho full. Provided video re camps which was useful. We had a guide that took us round both camps. Cannot remember Polish name but he said could call him Michael (I think) He was brilliant. When speaking to him realised that his family had suffered from the German occupation. His grandfather had been shot and family lost property. He therefore spoke with passion trying to convey the scale of what had taken place and it was all very moving and frankly upsetting.Over all a well run well delivered trip and a special thank you to Michael

Must attend this piece of history to remember can never attend again. Tour guide was knowledgeable. A small pitty it was a warm day and the Birkeneau tour was shortened but it was satisfying enough what we got. Driver Luca was great and reliable. Always on time at every meeting point said.
