Returns to original departure point
Established in the early 1940s by the Nazis, Auschwitz was originally intended for Polish political prisoners. Later, when it was extended to include the neighboring site of Birkenau, it became a larger concentration camp for primarily European Jews, killing an estimated 1.1 million people.

Begin your trip with pickup at select Krakow hotels or in central Krakow, at your preferred departure time. Accompanied by your guide, travel to the town of Oswiecim while a documentary on WWII and the Nazi Holocaust is shown on board. Arrive at the Auschwitz-Birkenau complex, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Enter the gates bearing the inscription Arbeit Macht Frei (Work Sets You Free) and then head inside to learn about how the complex quickly turned from a detention camp to a center for mass murder. Your guide discusses the camp’s history in a sensitive manner as you visit the crematoriums and gas chambers, as well as the watchtowers and fences at Birkenau where the Nazi officers stood guard.

After examining the exhibitions inside the old prison blocks, pay your respects at the camp's somber memorial. Your trip concludes with drop-off back at your original departure point.

Informative daytrip

The pickup at my hotel was on time and after a check of my ticket and ID we went to Auschwitz. On the way a movie was shown which give good background information about the camp and the liberation. Our local guide in Auswitz and Birkenau told us a lot of information during our visit in english and also knew when silence was needed at some places.

A must

This is a trip I think everyone should do. Read all you like about what happened and why but until you’ve been there you can’t get your head around it. You need to walk the route, see the blocks, and look at the collection of belongings left by the prisoners. Our guide Mari-Anne was quite new and needs a little bit more experience to tell the story without sounding like she had just rehearsed it. Maybe due to COVID if was a little quieter than usual but we didn’t feel rushed and had time to take in the surroundings and detail. The trip to Birkenau was only 15 mins, and again well worth seeing, just the sheer scale of the site is unbelievable. It’s so hard to imagine the atrocities even as you stand next to the tracks in the selection area, how can some people be so cruel to others?

This was an incredibly moving experience. Our guide was fantastic - extremely respectful, friendly and informative. There are plenty of social distancing measures in place at the museum, so there’s no need to be concerned about doing this tour during the COVID pandemic.

awesome everything I saw, with everything visited was like living what all those people suffered. It is worth visiting and living what others suffered so that it does not happen again

Educational but emotionless

The tour was OK. Auschwitz I is set up like a museum, so it's very hard to grasp the reality of what went on there so many years ago. Our tour guide was also very monotonous and strictly factual--there was little emotional or added colour about the history of Auschwitz. Being very educated about the Holocaust and Auschwitz I felt that I didn't really learn that much, but expected to hear more stories about what went on there. It felt very disconnected from the reality of what happened. On our way out of Birkenau we saw another tour guide reading stories from what looked like a diary, and it seemed to be a much more emotionless experience.

Whilst an extremely harrowing experience the tour guide was so empathic and knowledgable, she made it an extremely memorable experience.

An Excellent tour

Our tour was excellent, very interesting and definitely worth doing. The documentary on the bus was also very good as it gave us a heads up for what was about to come. But definitely take a coat and jumper as the tour at birkenau was very windy.

Very well organised tour, both guides were very informative. As expected the tour is very popular so it is busy. Would advise to take a small snack as there isn’t much time to visit the bistro at Auschwitz.

A trip not to be missed when visiting Krakow

We were conveniently picked up in Krakow and taken by comfortable bus to Auschwitz-Birkenau. A documentary film was played en route which was very informative. The guide at Auschwitz was detailed and clear, with headsets supplied to amplify. Auschwitz was very busy, so some queuing was required. We were then taken by bus to Birkenau and the same guide showed us around again with detailed information. We would have liked a little more time, maybe 30 minutes, at Birkenau to walk around.

Auschwitz II- Birkenau

A much anticipated visit which certainly lived up to expectations. We were accompanied by an excellent guide, Konrad, who was extremely knowledgeable and presented all information in a way that was compassionate and reflective. There was a real balance between historical fact and the real horror of seeing and hearing the human tragedy of the holocaust. Everyone should visit here to face the horrific consequences of racism, intolerance and hatred, and to learn lessons from our past. The coach transfer was comfortable and stress free. We watched a video an route which really helped to frame the day and place everything in context. Plenty of opportunities provided for comfort breaks, etc
