Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Your Lake Tahoe cruise starts at Zephyr Cove, where you’ll hop aboard the M.S. Dixie II. Set off toward Emerald Bay, listening to onboard narration about the formation of the bay, considered one of Lake Tahoe’s most beautiful locations.

Learn about its ‘little rock island,’ Fanette Island, the only isle on the lake, and hear about the history of Vikingsholm Castle, a stone mansion built right on the shore. You’ll have plenty of photo opportunities of the mountains, forests and beautiful shoreline during the cruise.

Also on board, watch a video presentation ‘Sunken Treasures of Lake Tahoe,’ which depicts what lies beneath the lake’s surface. Take a visual journey 500 feet (150 km) underneath the waters of Glenbrook Bay to explore the Steamer Tahoe, a boat that operated on the lake for 50 years before she was sunk. See underwater bluffs and canyons, travel through a forest of ancient petrified trees that caused scientists to reevaluate their theories of the lake’s size and evolution, and roam the bottom of Emerald Bay for a look at sea mounds.

If you are on the morning cruise during the summer months, you have the option for a buffet lunch, made up of deli meats, salad, soup, cheese, bread, chili, cookies, tea, soda and water. Beverages may also be purchased from the onboard bar (own expense).

Your cruise ends when you return to Zephyr Cove.

It was so smokey we should have got a discount, couldn’t see too much. The bartenders were kind and the young cashier in the gift shop was also kind. The three crew guys were not kind……

The only memorable experience on this cruise was laughing with friends. This cruise should never have left the dock!! It was close to zero visibility!! Shame on the Dixie Cruise Company for not cancelling and rescheduling or refunding!!

They didn’t have Piña Coladas, they did not have hand sanitizer and no one was checking who was wearing masks. Other than that is was fine

Smoke and Gouging

You need new speakers as the announcements were poor. The ride was good. The limited visibility due to smoke was detrimental to the missed grandeur. $12 parking should have been waived for people with boat tickets. Gouging never appreciated. We travel a lot and see how it’s done elsewhere. Beverages on boat overpriced. Gouging is unnecessary just a form of greed.

Awesome Trip, but Crowded

Fantastic boat ride and beautiful view of the lake alongside great narration about the lake. It was also perfect to be on the water with the land temperature in the mid to high 80s, and this capped off a memorable family weeklong trip in Tahoe. Though the boat trip itself was great, we had concerns about the lack of masks being worn during this ride, as it was crowded and both staff and many passengers did not wear masks despite the surge of the COVID Delta variant at the time. We did the best we could by staying on the open-air top deck and masking up the whole time, and it was fine for us. I'd definitely recommend caution for this outing if there are those traveling with more vulnerable people health-wise in the party.

Tahoe Experience

This was a really good experience. My little 3 year old loved every single second of it, and my wife and I loved the drinks on board. The guided tour also helped us learned more about lake Tahoe and how it got the name along with other facts.
