Thank goodness it had recently snowed as we found that to be the only exciting part of this trip. We understood that we may not have been able to reach Dove Lake, however, we were led to believe that the 'alternative' would not disappoint. It did.

Great for casual travelers and first-timers!

Weather condition was prefect when I was there with the mountain in clear view in the backdrop. It's such a beautiful place with a unique ecosystem. This is a great introductory tour to casual travelers and for those visiting the park for the first time. For avid adventurers, this isn't for you. You'll need at least a few days camping here to truly appreciate what nature has to offer. Ben's a great guide who prioritizes everyone's safety. His knowledge in nature and the Tasmanian history is abundant. Definitely recommended.

Long drive not much time spent at mountain/national park

This tour is for people who haven’t hired a car or are elderly/over 40. honestly cradle mountain needs a few days to explore - there is huge national parks/water falls/lakes so close. this tour you see very little and only get entry for 30 minutes. 8 hours driving back roads through all towns to get there, views are great but hire a car and go yourself tours like this are a waste of money unless you physically can’t drive/don’t have a car.

Wee had a very knowledgeable guide. Thae walking experience was great. The simple lunch in the hut brought back memories from mountain hikes in my childhood. Finally having the privilege of walking through a time capsule of plants and learning that these plants go back millions of years was amazing. The other stops showed another side of Tassie

Ben's commentary and encyclopaedic knowledge of the flora/fauna/history of Cradle Mountain National park and Northern Tasmania was a highlight of the tour for me. Really loved the walk/talk through Waldheim Chalet and the ancient forest behind it. Was even able to give us good restaurant recommendations for a variety of cuisines/price ranges on the drive home. Couldn't help but feel a little bit underwhelmed by Dove Lake/Cradle Mountain, mostly due to weather and the trail rather than the quality of tour. I would strongly suggest bringing extra food/snacks onto the trip - "Delicious Lunch including Tasmanian Meats and Cheese" is technically correct, but realistically is just a tasty but small roll from a deli in Sheffield. I would also suggest allocating some more time to Sheffield Murals, this would give some travellers a chance to have a bit of a gander at the town and enjoy a coffee or grab an extra sandwich. Overall, breaks in between were well spaced but felt a little bit rushed.

Rushed with poor lunch

The tour was ok, guide was good. Considering this trip starts early there is no provision for even a quick breakfast stop.. the tour guide was adamant on just 10 mins break, it felt like rushed...weather was rainy so the views were also not great..but a good lunch and other spots could have improved it heavily. I could not understand the point of stopping on raspberry farm for 15 mins there is nothing much you can do in that time..better to skip. Overall looked like a rushed trip don't recommend for family looking to explore the place with flexibility.

The Good, Our tour guide Ben was amazing, His knowledge of Tasmanian history was remarkable and very enjoyable. To hear his commentary. The weather was so picturesque having snowed the previous day made for breathtaking views and photos. The not so good!!! I was extremely disappointed what was offered for lunch. Lunch was had at 1pm after we had completed our walk. Whilst the one roll was nice I found this insufficient. Especially considering that there was no opportunity for morning tea, which I would have been happy to pay for, had we been given enough time. My suggestion is to extend the 10 minute toilet pitstop to a 20 minute morning tea break at Cradle Mountain visitor centre and allow people to purchase morning tea prior to the hike.
