Your day trip to Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, starts as you depart Launceston by coach, traveling past the mountains bluffs of the Great Western Tiers and by the towns of Carrick, Hagley, Westbury, and Deloraine. As you continue west, stop in Sheffield, the ‘Town of Murals,’ and enter a landscape of dense forest and mountainous terrain.

Cross Cethana Dam, and watch for wildlife like wombats and wallabies when you reach the national park. Stop at the Waldheim Alpine Spa to do the King Billy Rainforest Walk or discover the history of Gustaf Weindorfer before tucking into a deliciou lunch of local delicacies.

Then visit the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre for an introduction to the park before setting off on the Enchanted Forest Walk, a short stroll that provides views of the lush forest and a waterfall. Gaze at a majestic view of Cradle Mountain reigning over Dove Lake, and take a walk around the lake for more perspectives of the mountain (weather permitting).

Experience we never forget

First time , Views were spectacular didn’t expect snow and weather conditions took away the view to cradle mountain, yes I would go again in summer or spring to enable us to walk right round the lake .

Not enough walking to view Cradle Mnt
Peter

I appreciated the tour operator trying to fit different visits to the tight schedule and were able to get everyone back to city by 6PM. However, it seems to be too rush and not enough time spend on walking activities at Cradle Mountain. Overall, we only walked to Glacier Rock and back. Didn't even have chance to see Dove Lake Boatshed. For 2.5hr trip from Launceston, we only spent 45 mins at Cradle Mnt - Dove lake. I hope the tour could run a little longer at easy pace so that we could have more time to do these walks.

We had a great day, apart from the weather, unfortunately that is out of everyone's control. The day was perfectly planned. Our guide, Ben, had a great knowledge of the history and the area, and indeed was very interesting to listen to.
