Stop At:
It was built in adobe with view to the sea and the Lurin river valley. It was a pilgrimage site for many cultures that developed in ancient Peru. Upon arrival of the Incas, the complex was adapted to become an administrative center, respecting and adapting the local constructions. You can find there the Temple of the Sun, the Acllahuasi, the Palace of Taurichumbi, and the Pilgrimage Plaza, among others. We will also visit the Site Museum to get a better insight and appreciate the salvaged remnants of the area. The massive Temples of the Sun and the Moon are known to be the compound's most striking features. Built entirely of clay, an estimated 50 million sun-dried bricks were used in the construction of the Temple of the Sun alone. Excavations in the area continue to reveal further insights into the Moche and Huari cultures that spanned the period from 200 to 800 AD.

Solo Pachacamac trip
, Mar 2020
Pachacamac was a great experience! I went solo, but joined 4 other people (a group of three and one other solo traveller). Our guide was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. She did a fantastic job of telling us a lot about Pachacamac's history, as well as some of the other areas we drove through on our way out of Lima (Miraflores, Barranco, Chorillos, etc). I very much enjoyed this trip and would recommend it to those interested in Peruvian history.

Well worth a half day excursion from Santiago

Very worthwhile tour of this interesting archeological site. Guide gave detailed explanations of everything we were seeing. The tour van was able to drive us halfway up the hill, which was not expected but much appreciated in 28 degree C heat. Great views of the dig and surrounding areas from the top. One tip: Bring your own water, especially if it's a hot day. Several people showed up without water, and were sorry.
Great tour guide

Gloria is a great tour guide, she answered all our questions with patience and she cared for us. We went to a shop on the street after visiting the Pachacamac, they don’t accept credit card and I don’t have cash. Gloria saw this and insisted on paying the drink for me. I asked that how should I pay her and she said don’t worry about it. It was really nice and considerate of her and she is a encyclopedia you can ask her everything and she has the answer. It was a great trip and thanks Gloria and driver Luis!!
Very interesting site

Took this tour yesterday and really enjoyed it. Nice informative museum. The smaller tour vehicles are allowed to drive to various parts of the site where you walk a shorter distance. This is helpful due to the huge area it covers.
Excellent guides

The tour was great. The guides provided great information along the way to Pachacamac as well as when we got there. The site was very interesting and the museum was very well done.
Not what we signed up for
, Aug 2019
We signed up for an English tour, Not for a tour that explained everything in Spanish first, and spent less time explaining in English afterwards. We were also told to be ready 30 minutes earlier in the morning at 8:30am instead of the 9:00am initial start time, only to have to wait for 1 full hour, until 9:30am, to be picked up.
Fun short outing
, Aug 2019
The tour goes through some Lima neighborhoods and then to the ruins. They look like giant washed up sand castles. The commentary is interesting and the ruins are striking.
Inca and Pre-Inca history
, Aug 2019
The Pachacamac Archaeological site as magnificent and as interesting as Machu Picchu and at near sea level, the hiking around was much easier. The museum is a must visit to understand the pre-Inca and Inca occupation of the site.
