John was very knowledgeable about the history of Liverpool. I am local, yet learned a number of things that I hadn’t known before.
I took my 10-year old nephew and unfortunately, I didn’t think this was a good tour for children of his age.
He is very interested in history, but the information was given in very large chunks so did not keep him engaged.
Though the tour is 2 hours long, it covers a fairly small geographical area. I would say that it is suitable for all walking abilities, though if you can’t stand for long periods you may want to take something to sit on. There are also a lot of steps from the top floor of the Liverpool 1 shopping area down to the ground floor (though there is an alternative, slightly longer, route to avoid the steps).
The adults in our party thoroughly enjoyed the tour, John is an excellent guide and was pleasant and friendly.

So glad we booked this tour as it was a fantastic insight into Liverpools history. John the guide was incredibly knowledgable and explained the history of the docks etc keeping it light and informative. A must do for something different in Liverpool that isnt Beatles (whom i like btw) related!

The guide (John) was a local historian and history teacher with a suberb knowlege of the area..and his description of how Liverpool built up its wealth was an education for me in that the innovation of wet docks in 1710 facilitated the growth in ship building and trade...and in walking around Liverpool with our guide seeing al these grand buildings from the 1850 illustrates the wealth

We had a team day, 18 members of staff from around the north west, so the walk through history tour of Liverpool was chosen and it didn't disappoint, it was brilliant! John talked passionately about the city and how it came to be, his knowledge and story's held everyone's attention and it was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

An incredible tour, I learnt so much in just a couple hours! The tour guide was really friendly and was open to adding extra information to the parts that the group found most interesting. I was travelling alone found that sightseeing with a group was a much more enjoyable way to get to know Liverpool. A brilliant way to explore the city - would definitely recommend!

The tour guide was brilliant, very friendly and was able to answer all of our questions. He has a wealth of information about Liverpool’s history. He talked us through Liverpool through time and directed us around the landmarks. It was such an enjoyable few hours and he even give us some recommendations for places to eat!

This tour was an excellent history lesson of Liverpool, one of my new favorite cities! The tour started with an easy walk from our cruise ship to the meeting point. The guide was excellent, with many talking points that captured the surrounding buildings. It was like taking a history class in two hours! Guide spoke clearly and loud enough my middle aged ears had no problem hearing over the city noise.
