Cruise down the Rio Negro to view the 'Meeting of the Waters', where the black Rio Negro and the muddy brown Amazon converge, on this full-day excursion from Manaus. This stretch of water, where the two differently colored rivers flow separately for a few miles, makes for spectacular photographs. Eat lunch at a floating restaurant and stop to see the Victoria regia water plant at an ecological park.
  • Experience the Amazon Rainforest and see the Meeting of the Waters, where the Rio Negro joins the Amazon River
  • Admire panoramic views of Manaus from the boat
  • Visit January Ecological Park, where you'll see the native Amazon flower, Victoria regia
  • Lunch and hotel pickup and drop-off included

Following pickup from your hotel in Manaus, transfer to a boat for your day on the river.

Glide out of the Port of Manaus, heading toward the convergence of the Rio Negro and the Amazon. As you leave the port behind you, observe the traditional riverboats bearing local goods from upriver, bound for Manaus' markets. Admire views of this city on the river from your watery vantage point.

When you reach the 'Meeting of the Waters', observe how the dark water of the Rio Negro and the muddy water of the Amazon refuse to mix and instead flow alongside each other for more than 3 miles (5km).

Continue up the Rio Negro to January Ecological Park, home to the Victoria regia, the famous Amazon water plant. Stop at a floating restaurant for a traditional Brazilian lunch.

Waiting all day
, Jan 2020
I have been to over 60 countries and this was the worst organized outing I have ever had. I booked a trip for 11:30. They sent me an email telling me to meet at 8:15. I waited until 9:00 and no one came. My hotel clerk managed to find a phone number for them and they said they would pick me up at 11:30. No one showed up again. My hotel clerk called again. They said noon. They did pick me up at noon, but then we waited an hour and a half at the port. The trip itself was just OK. I wouldn’t give it more than three stars even if I had not spent more time waiting for the tour than the tour itself lasted. Don’t use “Gray Line” or Amazon Explorers. All very disorganized
Short River Cruise with lunch

Trip lasted less than 3 hours, a lot of the time was spent waiting for buses and boats. Boat was comfortable with a mixture of jungle and industrial scenery on the way Lunch was in a riverside floating Restaurant food was ok but nothing amazing. Trip is basically up the river for lunch then return. At the lunch stop there is a short walk into the jungle to see a few monkeys, good streach of the legs after lunch.
Our Rio Negro Cruise

We enjoyed the cruise very much. The weather was very good throughout. The guide was excellent and explained everything clearly.
Disappointment from the mythical Amazonia
, Jul 2019
The tour was held with a flat boat , not with that - two deck - presented in the brochure. This made impossible for us to see the different colour waters flown in parallel, as we were almost at see level with this boat. No dolfins at all and the ecological park was a rather unsafe construction, looking like canopy, of a few meters only! This is Amazonia! Disappointed

Our guide and ship crew were awesome! Lunch was delicious. The jungle, the animals, and the people were unforgettable. We definitely recommend this trip for everyone.

Great knowable guide, and the meeting of the wars is interesting, but the short walk and lunch, great food, we're just too touristy

Nice but you spend most of the time riding on a boat. The meal was great but everything was in Portuguese or Spanish not English so I don't know what was being said other than what the guide would come tell me (which would be a few words) but hours of telling everyone else things in their language

The whole experience is very good. The guide is very knowledgable. We are the only 2 people in our tour that don't speak portuguese. The tour guide has no problem use English to explain the tour to us. The boat is safe and clean and comfortable don't expect A/C. We have seen lot of places and had a chance to motor boat into the flooded florest. There is not much animal to see besides birds and Monkey and a small gator. Its understandable because we are not far deep into the jungle. The lunch is average, it eatable but don't expect too much as they are prepared by the local village people. All in all, its a taste of Amazon in a day comfortably without paying too much and too hard core.

This is a great tour if you only have time for one day on the rivers. You have ample time to sense the immensity of the river systems and the natural beauty of the river because we tour the Januari ecological park adjacent to the Amazon. The staff was very knowledgeable. Great trip for seniors.

Reasonable priced tour with a lot a value. Local tour provider coordinated with my hotel in advance so I didn't need to do that. Pickup was on time. Bus to boat transportation was in a new bus and a city tour by itself. Boat trip up the Rio Negra river to the Amazon and back was relaxing with a pleasant breeze. Nice snack selection and cold beverages available for sale. Excellent guide. Lunch buffet was great - selection was excellent. 5 minute walk to lily pad pond gave a worthy jungle perspective - you could see where you'd have to walk in the dry season. Boat tour through flooded forest was interesting only possible during rainy season - sit in the first boat if more than one small boat will be in the convoy otherwise, you may breathe in diesel fumes from the outboard motor. Boat trip stop at a village fish tank was well worth seeing the giant Rio Negra fish up close and you could feed the fish - May 2015 cost was 3 times to fish with a fish piece on a fishing pole for 10 local. Everyone loved the opportunity to have one of the giant fish snap up the fish piece. You were supposed to try to pick the fish up out of the water when they grabbed the fish. We were all nice and tired out by the end of the day.

The tour was great but the pick up timings must be coordinated.we had a rushed breakfast and were waiting from 0730. We were picked up at 0830. When the local provider is Fontur ,I had to call Rio each time since that is the number you have provided on your voucher.I expected much more from Viator.

Very professional service and knowledgeable guide. Everything promised was delivered, including excellent meal. I was well looked after for the whole day and fully enjoyed the experience. My one and only gripe was that some of my fellow passengers had paid less for the trip than l did, in one case almost half. Not quite the 'cheapest prices guaranteed'.

Obviously, the river tour is going to be the highlight for anyone coming to Manaus, but this one exceeded expectations, I'd say. We had a great trip up the river. We were able to learn a good deal about the river, the city, the history, etc. Tour guide was open to questions and very knowledgeable. The boat was in good condition and comfortable insider tip - bring or buy a hammock, and you can travel like the locals!. The lunch buffet had fantastic local food. The walk along the lake got us up an old bridge to look closely at the plant-life lily pads and animal life a caiman hanging out near the walkway!. The motorized-canoe trip down the tributaries was fun and got us up-close and personal with the forest and river. Only thing I'd recommend here is bringing bug-spray. There are few mosquitos by the Rio Negro and in Manaus itself, but once you get to the other river, they start biting!

Very little to see except lots of water and trees. No wildlife at all. The boat ride was lovely but boring. In hindsight, probably not worth doing given the expense of the trip.
