This activity will end right where it started.
Board a van and travel with your archeologist-guide from Mexico City to Teotihuacan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also known as the City of the Gods. A former Mesoamerican indigenous civilization that predates the Maya and Aztecs, Teotihuacan was once the largest city in Mexico, reaching its heyday in the 1st century CE (AD) when the Sun Pyramid was constructed.

Be one of the first visitors to arrive at the archeological park, right when it opens. In relative tranquility, wander through plazas and discover the pyramids without jostling around crowds. Enjoy taking unobstructed photos of must-see structures like the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, also known as the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, as well as the Palace of Quetzalpapalot.

Gain special insight into the complex’s less-visited monuments, including intricate murals and other architectural nuances. Hear about the latest archeological discoveries, the lifestyles of the inhabitants of this ancient city and theories behind the city’s decline.

Huff your way up the Sun Pyramid and the Moon Pyramid, the main axis of Teotihuacan. From the top, enjoy your bird’s-eye vantage point of the Avenue of the Dead, the primary road that runs through the center of the city, which separated the city and stretched from the Moon Plaza in the north to the Great Compound in the south.

After your Teotihuacan tour, hop aboard your transport and head to an obsidian workshop to learn more about the black volcanic rock native to the area. Chat with a local family and sample several liqueurs made from cactus, as well as mezcal, tequila, and pulque. For lunch, select from a variety of traditional Mexican dishes (own expense), before enjoying transport back to the central meeting point.

    An amazing time

This was an excellent experience, and worth every second of time. The pyramids and ruins of Teotihuacan were a breathtaking thing to witness, and our tour guide Emmanuel was extremely knowledgeable when giving descriptions and answering questions. Additionally, the small stop afterwards at a small ranch and store was a perfect ending to the day, including tequila tasting, a fun history of the people, culture, and tools, and beautiful souvenirs for sale. The restaurant for lunch was also quite tasty. Highly recommend.

The shear awe felt when seeing these massive pyramids is hard to convey. It's mind blowing that this huge city was abandoned and after 100 yea4s of excavation know one knows who built it. Truly a must see.

Too much speaking…in English and Spanish

Beautiful location, early access was not really until after 9 AM though because a stop is made at another Site along the way. The guide spent a lot of time speaking Spanish although the majority of our group spoke English. He spoke a lot based on his own beliefs, discrediting archeological findings at times. He frequently lost the interest of the group because of the length of his speaking and the lack of connection to what was actually being viewed at the time.

    Maybe too informative

This is was a VERY informative excursion. A tour of the ruins that I felt should have taken 1.5 hrs at most was a 3+ hr tour because the guide stopped and talked for 30 minutes at a time which oftentimes felt repetitive. If you're someone who likes to hear lots of historical details, then this excursion is for you. The guide were very knowledgeable and friendly. I did appreciate the tour bus - quite comfortable, has USB charging outlets, reclining chairs, restroom. They do stop at a nice gas station at the beginning so you can grab snacks. The last stop is at a tequila tasting shop. This was pretty cool and they have cool things to buy. However, this is also where the stop is to eat. My stomach was quite upset that night from that food so be cautious!!

The tour was awesome from the beginning to end. The bus was comfortable, roomy, and our driver great. Our tour guide Gerson was extremely informative and hilarious. We were extremely happy to have had him since the site was not only beautiful but full of meaning. The liquor(s) tasting and shopping afterwards was also tasty and informative. My wife and I highly recommend this tour. It was well worth it!
