An amazing tour

It was really an excellent experience. The only downside for it is the being you are always trying to catch time maybe, as the tour was very committed to the schedule. However, in my opinion, every stop was given a considerable time to check everything. Unfortunately, due to COVID situation, the stop in Obermmagau town was cancelled, but we went through it slowly on the bus. The historic information given by the guide was really entertaining. All in all, you wont regret it. Final thing to add, the way up to Neushwinstein Castle takes 30-40 minutes by foot, so shuttle bus would make a better option. Also you will pay for the entree tickets on bus.

Super comfortable coach

Unfortunately for us the inside of Linderhof palace was closed (we still saw the outside) and Marienbrucke was also closed for repairs, so the only sight we completed in full was Neuschwanstein palace. Now, I am a little biased because I think that "Mad" King Ludwig didn't have taste (quite unlike Frederick the Great of Prussia), so I didn't like the inside of Neuschwanstein that much. Nevertheless, the guide was passable, and the coach was the most comfortable coach I have ever travelled on. The private coach alone is a MUST (and worth the price of the tour alone) if you are using public transport to get around in Germany.

Great experience and beautiful view

Joined a tour with Elizebeth, it is perfect! She’s very considerable and very nice to communicate. I usually don’t go for a large group of tour, joined this one cause there is no ticket for newswan castles turns out this is great experience! No shopping during the way, everyone is nice l, they check vaccination and negative test as well to keep everyone safe. And the lunch place Elizabeth recommended was really great and that was not for commercial reason! The view so amazing and background intro tour guide provided is very great and educative. Driver is great as well! Highly recommend!

The linderhof palace was closed, the tour of the castle was rushed. Only saw 4 rooms and i wasnt able to get the awesome outside view you always see in pictures because the area was closed.

Irresponsible tour company

BEWARE! This company will leave you stranded. What an irresponsible company. We inadvertently walked down the wrong trail to get back to the parking lot. Once we realized our mistake we had 30 minutes to get to the bus. We RAN down. I tried to contact the tour operator multiple times to let them know we were coming. We were 11 minutes late. 11 MINUTES. This was the last stop of the day and they had left us. No courtesy call. We had to catch a train back to Munich. Please be aware they do not care about their clients. Find a better company.

Nice Castle tour

Be aware that they sell the tickets to tour the castles when you get on the bus, it wasn't clear when we booked it. Although it is extra, the castles were sold out for individual tickets when we looked for the next few months, so it is worth doing the tour so you can go inside the castles. With the driving distance from Munich, you don't have a lot of time at either castle, but the castle tours are very short, so it is nice to see both of them. The views of the mountains are beautiful as well. There is not a lot to the town where Neuschwanstein is, so the few hours were enough. Also be aware it is a serious workout to hike to Neuschwanstein, 40 minutes of 12% grade up and 25 minutes down. Also many flights of stairs inside the castle, so not a tour for the un-fit and the bus and horse carts are not frequent enough to be options. Our guide was very friendly and gave just enough interesting info. The bus was new and check in/the bus were right off a main square, so it was easy to find.

Abandoned by the tour bus company

On 19 august I took the sightseeing bus to Linderhof and Neuschwainstein, paid în advance on Viator. The guide also asked for money for entrance at the 2 castles, which I paid in the tour bus. On arrival at Linderhof the guide didn't buy enough tickets and told me and a few other people we cannot enter the castle, and that she will give us our money back. She also said to us we should be back to the parking at 12:00. I was back în the parking at 12:01 and the tour bus was just leaving the parking lot. I couldn't stop the bus. I had to wait in the parking 2 hours to get the next public bus to Oberamergau and then the train back to Munich (for which I was never reimbursed). Then I called the tour bus company's office to get my money back, and I talked to a lady who said I had to talk to Viator about the money, not to them, that her colleagues were on lunch break, so they couldn't help me, etc. Eventually, after 3 phone calls where I ended up telling them I will go to the police and make a complaint against them, and 2 emails that I wrote to the same address explaining everything, they reimbursed me (of course not all the money: 70% of the cost of the tour bus trip and the money for the castle tickets). Initially they didn't want to give me back the money for the castles, though I did tell them clearly I didn't actually visit any of them! So I'll never travel with this company again. They clearly don't care about their tourists!

Great trip out to the castles!

Fantastic tour of these two castles and both locations went smoothly and were amazing!

Realize that you’ll be on a group tour - the bus CANNOT stop in certain places. There was a little grumbling due to a COVID restriction that wouldn’t allow us to stop in the town before getting to Neuschwanstein; nor can the bus slow down on the main road to take pictures of the houses or of the castle as we approached it.

This is what it is…if you’re looking for a little more flexibility - you may want to select a private tour and not a bus/group tour. The group tour was priced perfectly for use. Feedback for Gray Line - better organization up front could make the ticket distribution go a little more smoothly. While it didn’t impact the quality or time - it did create a little angst waiting for tickets after getting off the bus. Other tours we’ve been on - guides have organized the tickets ahead of time - the locations may not have allowed for it - but if it could be improved - this would be the one improvement recommended.
